Moonrise Towers basement Secret Stash?

I went where the quest marker lead, before and after freeing the prisoners. There was no roll to find anything here. I walked right up to the spot, nothing happened. I walked all around, highlighting labels, mousing over every rock and piece of wood.. nothing.

What am I missing here?

Go to your inventory, use the shovel.
Your character starts shoveling even if you have not found it with perception.

If you truly are in the correct spot the chest will come up.

I hope it was nothing good. I can't go back there anymore.

Nothing of note; for me it was a bit of gold and a healing potion.
