Act 3 "intro" fight

After the intro you are forced into a fight where you go back to the astral plane, there I choose to go against the mindflayer, but it is a fight that is impossible.

Everybody is attacking me, the gith, mindflayer and devourers, they completely disregard each other.
So what are you supposed to do, side with the mindflayer, disregarding every choice I made going up to that point or just loose and game over?

It seems to be a loose/loose situation.

You die if you kill the mindflayer. So, yes, at that specific point you have to side with him.
