Investigate the Selunite Resistance

I got the note from the potter's chest which the guides and videos all state as the starting point for this quest, but I don't get the quest when I read the note like everyone does in the videos. Has anyone else encountered this? Note: I had already been through the Mason's Cellar before reading it, not sure if this is why or not.

I have a similar issue, I got the quest from the note from the potter's chest, but I cleareed out the mason's guild before investigating the resistance at the inn. So now the quest won't complete while I'm in the mason's guild even though I have the note in my inventory
EDIT: It's the mason's log on the table that needs to be read, not the note, for anyone who gets stuck like I was.

Hey thanks! I really thought the quest was bugged since I had the note. Glad to know there was ALSO a log.
