Is it possible to change my save game location on my PC?
My C drive is almost always nearly full and prevents me from having more than like 5 save slots. Is it possible to move the location the game saves to another drive?

Not likely because it uses the AppData folder which is a part of your Windows account. Maybe there's a way to move the entire folder but that's a Windows thing you'd have to look up. You must have a good reason to not just delete some crap or upgrade your drive. A decent half TB SSD is $20 on Amazon.

You have serious problems if that is your real situation.

Do you have an explaination why you have not enough free space?

mklink. google for "create symlink windows". or -> learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/mklink you can do this for everything if there is no other option.

I am not a very tech savvy person, but my C drive always fluctuates between 5 gb free to a couple hundred megabytes without my input. I rarely play PC games so I don't know much about what's possible to change save locations, etc. The only thing I could maybe delete is the hiberfil.sys since it's the only thing that uses multiple gigabytes of storage. From what I understand, that just means my PC could no longer hibernate.

If I did buy another kind of drive to replace my OS (:C), I wouldn't know how to hook it up to my PC without following some step-by-step guide. But if that's what it'll take, fair enough lol. I've procrastinated on doing something about it since Baldur's Gate is the first PC game I've played in years so I never tried to mess with my system storage for fear of breaking something. Just wanted to ignore it lol.

If you like I could try giving you some easy to use pointers. It just will not do without your help, unless via remote access. I leave the information here for you as offer, if you want to have me or someone else take a look

https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/wiztree-portable <--- this freeware helps to get an easy to use visualisation what is taking space and can help to identify leftover files

it is also very valuable for someone like you, who is not tech-savvy, to give AVG Tuneup - free trial version - a try. It is free and easy to understand and apply to cleanup old unneeded files.

As I wrote before, I leave these information for you as an offer. Please do not feel pushed to use them if you feel uncomfortable with such.

A non tech savvy person shouldn't be messing with that in my opinion. Easy to break things.
A simpler solution would be to use something like CCleaner and set it to automatically clear junk and temporary files on a schedule so that you don't get the build up. You can also disable Windows system restore and delete the backups if they're on which should free up lots of space.

Also check your Downloads folder for anything you don't need anymore.

LOL. You move your savegame folder, then you create a link to the new destination. Very hard, indeed. Never create an icon on your desktop, it could break things. This behavour will prevent you from learning anything in life and instead fear will be your costant companion. I learned this things before Internet existed, can you even imagine? :)

In this case you could also buy an ssd for a burger and connect 2 cables in your pc. There is no risk, it's no rocket sience. Fear is is the only enemy.

While giving the tip to disable Restore Points is a very stupid idea in this regards. :)

A pity to see how a condescending attitude of yours renders a good tip of yours practically worthless. Maybe you want to take a step back and reconsider?

I settled on clearing out my C drive (been procrastinating, it was time anyway lol) and there was enough space for saves afterward. Additionally, the options menu lets you control how many autosaves and quick saves are present at once. I just set it to only store 5 auto saves and 5 quick saves and it never maxes my drive storage. Also since my PC is a little old, I turned down some of the graphical settings (the default recognized gave me ultra even though this PC is not that high end?) and I haven't had any crashes or save errors since. I'm gonna leave this post up in case someone else wants to try the solutions suggested should anyone else more tech savvy than I want to try to move where their save files are stored, but my issue is resolved. Thank you to anyone who took the time out of their day to provide assistance.

Edit: Forgot to mention I disabled steam cloud saving by going into the properties by right clicking the game in my library and I got far fewer save errors since then.
