Books. Loot or just read?
Title.
I'm currently picking up pretty much all the books and dump them in camp after reading but I get the feeling that it's not necessary.

Also, if I read a book with one character, does potential knowledge pass to all or do I have to read them with every single one?

I've been reading them too but didn't notice a benefit from it aside from learning more lore for my actual self lol. Do some books give you a bonus? At first I was holding them all too but I'm only level 4 and have found so many I just sell them now.

Well, alot of books seemingly unlocked Inspirations and some alchemy recipes.
But I've seen people mentioning they even unlock spells from some.

All I know for sure is that I let my main read them all, pick them up and sometimes it does something but it's getting extremely tedious and slowly starts to seem pointless to pick them up.

I read and then pick up and add to wares. Reading gets some effect now and then, you will start to recognise books that are just books by the titles, you will see copies of books a lot. When you see a new book title read it.

As for the rewards you get, I have gotten inspiration, locations to dig and recipes. But nothing that you would worry about missing out on.
