Newbie here. Anything good for a hammer focused build?

Hello! I am looking to buy BG3, having never played any of the Baldurs Gate titles.

From my exceptionally limited knowledge, for roleplaying purposes I am looking to play a character who mainly uses hammers.
Is there any class that particularly specializes in the use of hammers? I was thinking along the lines of fighter or paladin (for roleplay).

Lorewise, used to be clerics were forbidden bladed weapons, so they were the main "hammer class", while paladins could still use swords freely. Add to that dwarves who are naturally proficient at warhammers and other goodies, and you've got yerself a potentially great character
