one question for multiclasssing: warlock class and Paladin's divine smite synergy

Can warlockdin players in Baldur's Gate 3 spend warlock spell slots to use paladin's smite? In this case, the Short Rest spell slot recovery could be used more efficiently

Yes, yes you can. Although it may not be as good as you think as Warlocks only get 2 spells per short rest until they reach 11th level, and you can only take 2 short rests in BG3 until you need to take a long rest.

Perhaps I should say you really ought to be able to (you definitely can in tabletop). During EA multiclassing was not enabled so we haven't been able to test it, so only the streamers who have been given advanced copies and the dev team know for sure.

It's not just about the limited spell slots though. Those spell slots level up as the Warlock levels up, so more levels in Warlock = bigger divine smites that come back on a short rest. Not to mention the other benefits of Warlock, like EB with Agonizing Blast, Devil's Sight if the Paladin becomes an Oathbreaker and gets access to Darkness, etc.
