I just want to remove the ugly outline around characters. (that green outline),

Some games use it but they usually have an option to disable it. Its ugly I never liked it. This game has really beautiful art and I do not want it dulled down by things like that.
The only thing I am ok with is that little circle underneath the character and like the OLD Baldurs Gate you could press tab or alt to highlight everything with those outlines then simply release it so they go away.

That is how I enjoy playing. I hope it possible because these green outlines are killing my experience.

Go to gameplay settings. There are 3 individual settings under User Options.

The hotkey should be ~. I haven't changed it from default and it's what I've been using to toggle it on and off in-game. Also left alt shows items that are interactable nearby, but seems like not all items are shown yet in EA.

For me, it's a little bit bugged. You actually have to set for highlights in the exploration dropdown or highlights+circle to turn it off.

sadly the same thing not working during the combat, it will get highlight and circle no matter what you set.

aaamd the patch just fixed it. Now the settings working fine. Now only if you also can switch of the environmental highlights would be amazing :D
