A Key Ring

My suggestion is a key ring. Any new key you get goes on the ring so it doesn't clutter up the inventory.

Have it open up like a container if someone wants to look at or drop individual keys.

Yes please, I find myself wishing for such an item constantly. Even if it were a minor magic item (to handwave the shared inventory mechanic while using it) or a container like the "Curious Book" that is a bag that looks like a book (or in this case a key ring) it would go a long way toward helping organize and reduce clutter.

Addendum that it would also be nice to tell whether or not a key has been used or has any future use. Those 0.01s do add up eventually to a not insignificant amount.

I'm not against this, but for this exact reason I just pick up a pouch and toss all keys and notes there. Same for consumables. Used to do the same for grenades, but it seems bugged in the last patch.

Haha, I normally wind up with a key/quest item pouch; the pickpocket bag for my rogue/ranger character that has special arrows, poisons, and throwables; a bag of herbs; a bag of potions; and the curious book you find in the hole outside the blighted village as a "spellbook" full of spell scrolls.

I really hope they'll add the stuff of the bags of sorting giftbag in DOS2, or whatever that was called...that was so useful...everything sorting in the appropriate bags and not cluttering your inventory...
