Let us break Bitter Divorce without telling Mayrina about it
I'm playing a Paladin, and it kind of sucks that the only non-oathbreaking options to end this quest are either to murder a grieving widow or snap the resurrection wand right in front of her face, which is... very much not paladin behavior, IMO. Since breaking the wand is already an option, it doesn't seem unreasonable for my character to just be able to just... do that, without the extra bit of cruelty.

It might be cool to be able to use Speak with Dead on Connor as well, maybe have him tell Mayrina he wants her to move on or doesn't want to be a zombie or some such. IDK, an option for a goody two-shoes would be appreciated. :P

Do you have an opportunity to end conversation, so you can switch to another character who doesn't have the same oath?

It is Paladin behaviour, you're not in the business of being liked, you're in the business of doing the right thing, and the right thing is to get Mayrina to snap out of it and get on with her life, even if it means she hates you. (Although I wouldn't put it past Larian to have her stay obsessed lol.)

just make sure another character has the wand. Karlach worked for me. PLD didn't get oathbreaker. Make sure that character is the one interacting with Mayrina .
Hope this helps the PLD players.

She snapped out of it once her only hope, the hag, was dead. Telling her you have a solution only to destroy it in front of her is nothing but pure evil. With no other way to finish this quest that isnt being evil, its just a bad design. Why cant I attack the stick and destroy it when I can do that to every other item in the game. Why is this one special

I know this is an old thread but I very strongly agree. I've completed this quest for the first time and now I'm stuck with a quest marker asking me to do something horrific and no way to destroy the wand and end the quest. I found this thread looking for a way to do exactly this after trying dropping it and attacking the wand, only to find it takes no damage.

I'm not coming at this from the Paladin oath angle either, it's just an extremely, extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up thing to do.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
