Please make inventory management less tedious.
I have spent hours not playing the game and instead just managing what feels like a clunky inventory that you have to constantly micromanage. So i wanted to try and come up with suggestions and hope that if others can come up with suggestions that would help with this. The point of this thread isn't to bash on what is a wonderful game but rather to come up with ways to improve it.

The one that really stands out to me is that food shouldn't even waste space and weight. It's so cumbersome and i just end up sending it to camp anyways. So why not default it to be sent there and be usable from camp instead of it having to be in player inventory. This change alone would save me constantly having to manage food weight that just wastes time and isn't a fun or engaging experience.

Trash items should kinda work the same. Things that have no use and are just there for gold should default to camp, marked as junk and be sell-able to merchants from that inventory.

Having alchemy bags/food bags be bags of holdings (Items inside them don't add weight to the person carrying them) Would also be an easy in universe reason for things to work this way.

There are a ton of clever ways to make inventory management not feel so terrible and i really hope you guys work on it. The game is a ton of fun and I think this sort of quality of life change would go a long way into making the game an even more enjoyable experience.

I support the idea of more inventory management tools, but I am also aware that to a large part it is a problem the player creates themselves. I loot everything, and that makes a lot of stuff to manage. If I were to leave behind the 1 gp forks and cups then the total impact on my available funds would be relatively minor and I would have a lot less junk to manage.

As for food, I recommend ditching your food bags. Instead of trying to carry food just send all the food you pick up to camp and leave it in your main chest there. When you want to rest you'll be going to camp anyway, and you can pull out just the food you need before you begin your rest. No more weight, less management, and no more hassle than manually selecting which food to use when you rest (which you might need to do anyway, since the game tends to try to use more than necessary if you let it auto-select which food to use).

I already right click send to camp for food. That's kinda my point. Having to do it over and over and over again isn't fun or engaging. It's a system that takes away from the experience instead of adding to it. The point of this thread and i apologize if i didn't make it clear wasn't about suggestions for things i can do to manage it better but rather to come up with suggestions for larian to improve the gameplay.

+1

1. Filter buttons for different categories have to be placed on the main UI interface, not be hidden behind a "Sort by..." button! In this game it needs 2 mouse clicks to get the inventory sorted. Unneccessary bloat.

2. Why are items not categorized correctly? When you sort by category potions don't go in a row as one would expect it - this applies for other items as well.

3. The whole inventory is laggy at all times (fast gaming PC). The code can't be called optimized when it takes next to one second to switch from one character's inventory to another one's.

So yeah, OP is right. Please invest some work in this, Larian. The inventory is just terrible at the moment, because it wastes time.

I fully support the idea of Larian streamlining the entire process so that when you pick up food it is just added straight to a food storage container in your camp. It would also be ideal if when you go to rest it will access the food in that container without you having to pull the food out first. I didn't mean to imply that there wasn't room for improvement or that I was opposed to improvements.

Your point was clear. I believe that talking about workarounds that players can use to deal with problems now is an important part of any discussion about a game developer possibly fixing those problems in the future. The two are logically conjoined and one does not take away from the other, in my opinion. My intent was only to be helpful - if not to you then to some of the other people who might read the thread - not to irritate you.

I'd love a button combo to add to wares. Also the ability to add wares to barter windows with a single UI button like you can with trades

I agree with OP.
Tactical Adventures did came with some beautiful ideas in Solasta like the scavenger guild, swiping all the crap you left behind you in various areas. It takes them few days to do so, then split the profits with the party.
Soooo clever, and meaningful, on top of being conveniant and faster.
