Search your Bags
I know that there are bigger fish to fry here from managing spells to multiclassing and all that great stuff we are gonna see in the future but i just wanted to say this because i was begging for this since DOS.
After a few playthroughs of the game i realized that in both tabletop and video gaming i tend to hoard everything i come across. Weather it is for quests, selling or using in battle
shorting out items in the bag is pretty important if you want to keep things moving.
So i started thinking that managing 4 bags already takes up some time if you are like me.
Now imagine that you have the most common magic item in D&D aka the Bag of Holding.
So my question is this. Could it be possible to have a search engine that would help in pinpointing specific items on the spot?
I know that there are different tabs that you can see just weapons or consumables but as i
said hoarder plus Bag of Holding.

Thank you for reading this

Great idea, it would also be cool to have a button to auto sort by type or something to just organize the bags with a touch of a button.

That would definitely help, especially with all the clutter that exists in BG3.

There is a sort function with various options.

well if you don't drag the whole galaxy with you i don't see it as a problem. especially if the weight limits become more realistic. I just use bags and sort by... doesn't take that long..

Don't know something about having Search doesn't click with high fantasy.. but a bit more icons for bags and backpacks would be welcome maybe actually make bags by type...like alchemy bags scroll case and so on..

The scroll case is a great idea, on another thread it was suggested to have a scroll case icon on the main screen to quick cast scrolls from w/o having to hotbar them. I really liked that idea too.

Yea lol Decker, I had forgotten as I typed that... I even use the damned thing for the trading screen.

Soooooo, using the absurd number of FREE backpacks (which act as bags of holding) lying around in Druid's Grove (for a reason) is tough to manage? Having one backpack for scrolls, one backpack for potions, one backpack for food, one backpack for keys, one backpack for books, one backpack for whatever else you want it to hold is just way too complicated and/or difficult to manage? What is the issue here again? No, the real issue and problem here is that many of you are hoarders of useless stuff, and better yet, want to tow all that useless stuff around with you the entire game instead of sending it to your camp chest. An episode of Hoarders should be dedicated to some of you.....

Bullse i get what you are saying i really do and i agree. Some of us collect a ton of things in games and maybe that is bad.But if you have been in D&D table and blessed with great
and very creative players along side you sometimes even the most useless item can play a part on how you overcome some puzzle or interaction or i dare say battle. Of course
this is a video game and most of what i said does not even matter .In the end its just a suggestion and that is why i posted my thought process here so people can correct me if i am just making a fool of myself.

You're not John, it is a good suggestion. Some people just got that chip on their shoulder.
Its fine as long as his argument indeed covers some flaws in my thinking and he is not wrong so its all good.

I too am a video game loot hoarder.
I'm very glad to see Larian had fixed the bag inventory screen constantly scrolling up when the current empty space being filled was not visible.
I'd really like to see renaming options for bags/containers so I can name a Bag of Scrolls and Chest of Potions or Crate of Books.
I'm not opposed to a bag search option but don't think I'd personally need it with the current item sort function we have and since I already do store similar items together in 1 container.
Fun fact there are like 20 maybe more different visual icons for various types of containers. I keep 1 of each container of each different icon in my camp stash to store everything in.
Yea that would be a solution as well if you can rename and or mark bags to funnel specific items into them.I would very much like to see your camp sir :P I hope we have a lot of different artistic armor styles as you can never have too much art right?

I haven't actually spent any time decorating my camp yet...I just have at least 1 of every neat looking random item I find stored away in my camp stash + every magic item/weapon/armor I can get + every gem I find(I'm totally going to try to have a space filled with gems I can Scrooge McDuck swim my way around in) + whatever else catches my eye. :-)

I'm sure the pocket dimensional home some modder creates after release I use for my personal house is going to end up quite stuffed though cause I've got thousands of pounds of stuff sitting in my stash just from this EA.

I actually found that bags did not help me much other than to maybe make sure that certain items are put in a bag that I don't want to accidentally sell. Otherwise, sort feature works just fine in managing items outside of bags. In fact, when I put things in bags it became quite tedious.

To make bags more valuable, I like Neverwinter Nights magic bag approach. Some bags reduce encumbrance more than others of lower quality. Then bags would be worth it in this game...especially since you can send things to camp at any time.

I would love this. I keep a pouch on my main just for keys.

In my traveling party my main carries the pouch I mentioned above for keys and Gale has a pack filled with 1 of each scroll I come across he can learn. It can get cluttered sometimes on my main who usually is carrying right now, but I do like the open view and sort feature to easily see what I have when I open my inventory.

I like and use the "send to camp" option a lot. I use the various bag & container options extensively for organizing my camp stash box where my hoard exists. :-)

As for magic bags like a Bag of Holding of old. I do know that magical bags where a thing so I'm open to some version of them though I don't know their current state in 5E rules.
