Let Omeluum help.
At the end of the game, we're told we need a Mind Flayer in order to defeat the Nether Brain. We're given one of three options: The Emperor, Orphius, or a party member.

Emperor is tricky to trust, Orphius you want to free for Lae'Zel's quest, and making him a flayer feels unfair, and sometimes you just don't want to become a mind flayer yourself.

So alternative idea: Omeluum.

When you first meet Omeluum, he offers you a ring of mind shielding, which protects him from the influence of an elder brain. There really is no way or saying "No thanks, you keep it" other then just selling it right back to him. So here's what i propose.

1. Add a "No, you need it more then i do, you keep it" option to Omeluum when meeting him in the underdark in regards to the Ring of Mind Shielding.

2. When told a Mind flayer is needed for the Nether brain, give the player the option to say "I know a guy..." to try to recruit Omeluum. (Perhaps this option is only available with Orphius, as i don't think The Emperor would be okay with it)

3. If Omeluum still has the ring of mind shielding and is still alive, you find him and any other living members of the society of brilliance hiding in the basement of their building (Which AFAIK is it's own separate map, so a portal to / from the prism could just open up in there in a unique instance) and you can recruit him for the job, though he is not a combat-character and must be protected.

4. If Omeluum does not have the ring of mind shielding and is still alive, you find him in the basement having consumed the other members of the society, now completely under the control of the Nether Brain, you're forced to fight him and either go back to the "Orphius or Us becomes a mindflayer" option. Maybe Orphius can free him of the brain's control, but i feel like it shouldn't be possible (permanently) without the Ring. If you have the ring on you, maybe you can force it on him to save him, or maybe the other society members already killed him, idk.

That is all.

That's a nice headcanon and all, but the issue is that the point of no return, which happens before the revelation of needing a mindflayer mind, doesn't let the player contact anyone else through the rest of the game. If they're not at the meeting on the way to the EB, they're not going to be involved in the final battle.

i mean that's mostly because the final battle area is it's own separate instance because the lower city you've been exploring is supposed to be under attack.

We know the prism can make portals to locations outside it's immediate location because that's how we get to the upper city for the final battle. So, just add one.

> Revelation about needing mindflayer
> Portal to a unique instance of the Society of Brilliance Basement (Re-work of the one you find the Gith child in if you gave them the egg) which is it's own separate map, not part of the lower city
> Then go to the final battle map, maybe one more trip into the prism, idk.

Or heck, simpler solution.

> Use your parasite + Some kind of magic to contact Omeluum and say "Hey, if you're still alive, meet me here, we need to talk." so he's in that final meeting with the other allies. Maybe the society of brilliance can bring something to the fight too.
