Why is Wall of Stone so fragile?
Each wall segment has only 30 HP, that's not enough to survive even a couple good hits at the level you get access to it. And its only damage resistance is immunity to psychic (it's weak to force and thunder), when even basic wooden barrels are also immune to poison and resistant to piercing. And the breakable stone walls you find in some places have the following damage properties:
  • 24 HP
  • Sturdy (hits that do less than 10 damage do nothing)
  • Weak to bludgeoning and force
  • Resistant to piercing (both mundane and magical)
  • Immune to slashing, acid, necrotic, fire, lightning, cold, psychic, poison, and radiant
Seriously, to most level-appropriate enemies that can do damage other than psychic, it's less "wall of stone" and more "do-not-cross signpost"

I haven't had problems with the durability, only with getting it to actually place to begin with.

I trapped a big group of flaming fists inside Hunger of Hadar with it.
Worked like a charm, they didn't break through until after all their friends outside were dead.
