I'm not afraid of an army. We need to press on.
I figured I'd gain some approval from my party if I said something OG like that.

Nope.

Instead I instantly teleported to a prison cell in Moonrise Tower. The conversation doesn't end, letting you walk up to a gateway and click, followed by a warning like when you're crossing into an area that advances the story. You click the dialogue option, the screen fades to black, and when it fades back in you're in a cell. I didn't even look around to evaluate my situation, I immediately hit F8. Not because I was afraid I ruined my progression or something, but because the reason I was still wandering around that place was to complete the area before I completed the Gauntlet of Shar. Because THAT warned me that it would advance the story. That it would change the map. Well I didn't want that to happen before I cleared everything, and I was concerned that when I ended up in a prison cell surrounded by an army that I had crossed a point of no return.

Nope, I need a warning and a cutscene for something like that.

You creep up to a stone archway. You're looking at the army and you notice, they're looking at you. Gale chimes in, "maybe this was a bad idea." You hear horns in the background. First one, then it is joined by a chorus. The army you're looking at starts to assemble, unconcerned with the threat you may pose. You turn, and behind you troops are filing in from the sides, forming ranks, cutting off your escape. An order is given. It sounds like it could be Ogre for "open fire!" The sound of many many crossbows discharging assails your ears. Your characters all crouch, brace themselves... but nothing happens. You look around and the bolts are all hanging in midair, glowing purple. Your dream protector speaks to you. "I can not hold them off for long. You must find a way to survive!" Upon witnessing the intervention, you hear shouting in the distance, coming from the army. The troops tighten their formations and close in on your position, slowly, weapons ready, but not firing. Then you see the ranks parting, and what looks like a general steps through. He looks over your party for a moment then says "we've been expecting you. Come." You have dialogue options but no matter what you pick he cuts you off with "that was not a request. Bring them." He walks away and the ranks start closing in again, and the screen fades to black.

Yeah, I could have dealt with that.

I support this. Kinda weird not having a cutscene. Perhaps not exactly as described above but any cutscene would be better than just cut/teleport.
