Just don't use it and problem solved anyway.
However I will say it is a fairly iconic price of armor and act 3 is supposed to feel like end game D&D where the items and abilities you have are supposed to feel OP cuz the enemies abilities and weapons are OP.
In D&D what is good for the goose is great for the gander so.
Also, unless you make a run for it, you'll probably unlock it just before the final couple of boss fights, and at that point there are so many ways to break the game that x2 on piercing dmg is hardly problematic
