i made a post about this issue like an hour ago i believe. if your upset about this for bow and arrows, you can hold CTRL and you can aim properly. unfortunately it does not work with using spells for some reason. also if you did not know, you can hold SHIFT to move into a spot where your cursor might be highlighting something else
I just tried to spell snipe somebody in a Silenced room from outside the door. Gale just runs into the room and is just like 🥴 “Sorry, guess I can’t cast now.” 🤬
So what u can do is just simply hover over the attack see its trajectory move your char manually and shoot. I remember also it happens with meele where the ai thinks it needs to go around a bunch of clumped up chars in order to hit and get hit by opportunity attack but never needed to do so , simple solution i found is to just simply move the char manually to the spot i want to attack from and prevent the opportunity attack.
I actually get more annoyed when ai shoots through walls as if there is a trajectory there :p happens sometimes but very rarely.
Have you ever targeted an enemy that was clearly in range but didn't notice your character do some ridiculous movement just to do the action? Or maybe you did notice the automovement but the game wont let you target where you stand because it wants to do an unnecessary movement? We dont always want to waste movement for an in range attack, BS like that can really turn the fight around and not in your favor. It can screw up your entire strategy
There are certainly ways to work around it, but I feel like it'd be a lot more helpful if the option wasn't there and for the game to just let me find the angle for myself.
I can see the utility for sure, as an option, but at times because I've thought I was properly lined in, I've accidentally caused my characters to move through traps and harmful effects, because instead of the game simply showing me that I couldn't shoot from where I was standing, it showed me an adjusted angle from a spot I didn't really wanted to be in, and I ended up taking unnecessary damage. Now, I could have noticed if I was being careful of that, but at that time I didn't, and it kinda sucked at that time that I needed to have one more thing to keep in mind, instead of focusing on my battle tactics. Felt a bit like the game system was another enemy to consider, if it makes sense
Whatever you're suggesting simply doesn't apply. He wants to have a clear line of sight and the ability to cast from any position. The simple existence of an automated "correction" of the position already goes against what the OP wants.
Again, he DOESN'T want to move, he wants to be able to stay put, and check his options for new angles for ranged attack (it's the same for spells too), and move if and when he wants to, instead of being automatically re-positioned by the AI.
It has nothing to do with finding hitbox "holes" or bugs, it has to do with the AI not taking clearly straight up shots because it prefers to throw your ranger/mage in the direct line of sight of the threat, like a red cloth to a bull, instead of taking advantage of Higher Ground and partial cover.
