Strength in relation to picking up and throwing a creature
So, I feel the STR calculations for picking up and throwing a creature is way off.
First I played my Barbarian that had a 17 in STR. The normal range being 8-12. An Ogre has 19. (8 being below average/weak and 12 being above average/strong)

With 17 STR, it feels very odd that I am not able to pick up and throw any creature short of an Ogre in size. Because at 19 STR, an Ogre should be able to pick up another Ogre and carry it and at 20 STR you should be able to throw an Ogre at least 1m as well as carry it. Because at average strength, a person can carry another person, think piggy back if you doubt the princess styled carry.

So if a human can pick up another human at STR 8, carry that human at STR 10 and throw that human 2m~ at STR 12, it seems rather odd that my Barbarian can only pick up small creatures and throw them with a STR of 17. I should be able to yeet, for example, humans a decent distance and Halflings/Gnomes/Goblins for at least twice that distance.

I haven't read anywhere that STR in DnD is relative, rather that it's flat.
For example, a human with 19 STR is just as strong as your average Ogre.

So with my character being well above normal strength and not being able to throw someone short of an Ogre breaks immersion and I believe it should be changed, taking what I've just said into consideration.

The game offers you the ability to shove or throw and they should stay distinct from each other. Shoving is pushing a character slightly away (5ft) and throwing is tossing a player +5ft and causing damage due to impact.

If the net result of throwing an ogre is slightly moving it 5ft away, then you might as well just be shoving it. There is no reason to waste design time modeling the throw, when mechanically it is exactly the same as a shove.

Throwing is obviously different from shoving, even mechanically, since you can't shove a creature onto another creature. While with throwing you can.

Shoving also doesn't let you put creatures on levels above, like throwing someone up on a roof would.

Throwing and Shoving in real life and in this game, are fundamentally different.
So there are many reasons to put some more thought into it, because as it stands now, throwing is severely underperforming and needs to be adjusted.

Even more so if what you said would be the case, because then throwing would really be underperforming by simply being a slightly better shove.

Carry weight is based on size - and number of legs. I believe it's doubled each increment up Anyway, an ogre can lift way more than a medium human.

Cast Enlarge and give that a go, you should be able to heft a ton.
