Backpack/Pouch mechanics
We always make use of backpacks and pouches as a means of organization in the inventory and placeholders in chests. Would like to see some more flexibility.

Quality of life requests
  • Naming a backpack - easier to navigate between bags or pouches. We tend to store specific items in certain backpacks and pouches. Place them in hotbars. And as mentioned before for storage purposes (ie. food)
  • With the new food mechanic, it doesn't seem to grab food from your backpack/pouches at all. I have to grab the food and place them back in my inventory. Seems like a miss from QA
  • When trading with a merchant, I REALLY want to open the backpack to sell. It seems like another miss from QA .When I selected a backpack, it was sold (along with everything in it). Very frustrating the first time that happened. Couldn't get back my items. Need the ability open the backpack/pouches when trading or bartering, to select items
  • Sorting in general doesn't seem to work if I click the same sorting option (inventory or backpack). I need to switch sorting options to sort properly

Visual backpack equipped
  • I feel if backpacks become an integrated part of the game, visually seeing the backpack makes sense. It would bring a bit more realism as an adventurer
  • The notion of visually seeing the backpack get heavier adds more notion of 'weight' or being 'encumbered' in the game visually appealing
  • If equipped backpacks are a mechanic, and potentially only 1 can be equipped, it would be nice to then have pouches for alternate storage and see that around the belt
  • And of course, varying backpack designs makes this mechanic much more fun. Crafting backpacks, or buying different backpack designs would make this fun in general

I will say that Larian's inventory design and UI leave a lot to be desired.

But that could well be due to the amount of...let's say "functionless" loot that shows up everywhere. I remember my time in DoS2 being similar in that fashion, so much stuff that just really wasn't worth picking up, and often could slip into your inventory if you misclicked "loot all".

Perhaps another option would be to be able to designate a storage container for anything marked as "vendor trash" or whatever the actual name for the option is in game, to help cut down on clutter.

Well, this was meant for organizing items we kept. This wasn't really meant for 'trash' loot. We have our personal bags and split items between eachother. But typically potions are in one bag, spell scrolls in another, food in another, lockpicks/disarm traps, etc. You get the idea.

We wouldn't store trash in our bags. The feedback provided was leaned toward QoL enhancements.

Also, we don't know if everything is 'trash' yet. Most items I feel are part of crafting, alchemy, etc. So I believe there will be more functionality later!

True enough, but I have to say I'm still not fond of some things...like all the cups plates and spoons that are only good for making Thunderwave Grapeshot.
Also:

- When game launched in EA, containers had the ability for items placed in them to remain in the same square they were placed in when the container was reopened (instead of being sorted). I tend to organize my own containers according to my own internal logic, and would like items to stay exactly where I put them (basically exactly how the 'main' inventory works now).

- When I open a bag, I often leave it open to easily access items from it. This means that I will also place it somewhere convenient on my screen. I'd like the game to 'remember' where I opened/closed that particular container so that the next time I open it, it remains at the same location on the screen that I opened it last time. Also, on a side note, on my 49" screen I cannot move the container interface to either the right or left edge of my screen (I think it stops at what would be the end of a 21:9 screen).

- I would also like to name my containers.

Agreed one of the first things that came up for me I thought could be better was the inventroy system.... if you look at the inventory in by pressing TAB its not organised the same as if you press I on a character.... and it would be nice to be able to label bags, backpacks and stuff defenetly would be a huge improvement

This items should always be left where i placed them, I hope they fix this and the difference between the TAB screen inventory and the "i" screen inventory soon

I think just having a visual backpack would be fine no need to complicate it more than that, that's asking alot

Having a backpack dedicated to items to sell would simplify a lot inventory Management...
