Repetitive Conversations
Can we please cut out the repetitive conversations? What I mean is, it is so annoying when running around an area to hear the same conversations repeated over and over again. If I hear that tiefling girl say, "All you care about is your stupid Baldur's Gate," one more time...

Okay...so lots of video games do this, and it's not THAT annoying, but it is annoying. I'd rather have them hold the conversation once and stop. After that, if you want them to continue to talk for atmosphere, maybe they could just have a mumbling conversation or something like that where they are just talking almost inaudibly amongst themselves.

Also, can we please provide a feature to skip dialogues that have already been triggered once? Or...maybe just don't have the dialogue repeated. This would be something more natural.

For example, the shopkeeper in the Druid's Grove. I don't need him to tell me every single time that I need to keep in mind that there are others in need. Once is enough. After that, a simple, "Hello again. Looking for more supplies?" or something like that would be much more natural and real.

But, if we can't do that, at least allowing a player to skip the repetitive dialogue would be very nice. Having the same conversation again and again is a bit un-fun.

Also, maybe if my main has had a conversation with someone, could we not have to repeat the same conversation whenever one of the other party members also talks to the same person? I would much more prefer the ability to switch between characters during a dialogue and have it only occur one time for all characters than to have the same conversation repeated whenever another character in the party talks to someone. Again, as an example, the shopkeeper in the Druid's Grove had the exact same conversation with my main as with Gale when I was making Gale the party leader at one point. It just felt redundant and didn't make sense to repeat the whole thing again.

Allowing to switch party members during conversation would also allow some to use their proficient skills for checks as opposed to whoever initiated the conversation. I would REALLY like this option built into the game because often my main isn't as skilled at something as one of the other party members, but because he initiated the conversation he screws up the roll and fails. I like how Neverwinter Nights 2 did it in the Storm of Zehyr. Whenever an encounter occurred, you got to see different dialogue options based on which character you selected to respond. If someone was good at Deception it would provide a dialogue option for Deception and note which character has the best Deception for the response. If Persuade, then it would note which character has the best Persuade and that would be the character who would be selected to respond if you chose Persuade. One conversation for the whole party, but allow for the whole party to be able to respond in a way that suits their character, allowing for greater character development.

+1 to all of this.

I'm almost to the point I tell the Tiefling siblings to leave the Grove, just so I don't have to hear them arguing every time I want to visit the blacksmith...

I think it's really freaking immersion-breaking. Except if a player rushes through an area, but I believe that most BG3 players aren't playing in that fashion.

I think a lot of players, like me, like to examine the environments thoroughly, loot containers, etc., and during that longer time period it's really glaring how NPCs repeat the same lines again and again.

(Possible the devs and testers don't realize this, because I guess they have a tendency not to stick around in areas since they visited them ad nauseam.)

I found a partial solution: There is a separate 'chatter' setting in the audio settings menu, which controls volume of NPC lines. I set it to 5 instead of 100, and it's not perfect, since you hardly hear even the first occasions when they speak a line, but still a big improvement.
