2. Jumping off of cliffs will hurt, not being rude but that's common sense.
It's a bit deceptive what you can and can't jump off of without damage. In no way is it common sense. The fall damage height is incredibly small, and you even go prone with fall damage. Like, the ledges in the very first room of the intro give you fall damage and knock you prone, and they're barely over your character's head. That's crazy that a height like that hurts you, unless you land wrong, in which case it would be a check. In real life, as a guy in average shape who's not constantly running and fighting, I can jump off a ledge more than my height and be fine; why would these adventures be able to do less than me?
its just going by dnd rulings, d6 of damage for every 5 ft beyound 5 ft, and if you were jumping down more than your height, wearing armour, carrying weapons and other gear, there is a great chance youll hurt yourself.
So yeah they should tell you, because the game is the DM.
