Best equipment for Assassin Subclass?
Title.
I am planning a new run with a rogue archetype and among the 4 subclasses, Assassin is the one who picked my interest the most.
I have never played rogue before tho (and Astarion usually performs as fertilizer as soon as we reach the blighted village), so any tip is welcome. The aim is to maximize stealth damage, use poison and special arrows.
Race is a seldarin drow (if it may be of further help to min max the build).
Thank you very much for any insight.

Deadshot.
I mean...lol... IF you like the AssClass then hit it. Play it like you would Astarion. It's really nothing new. What gear? I mean as you go along, just slot the best gear. Really, your job is going to be to open and kill as much as possible, then stealth and pop, stealth and pop... all while your team is doing much of the same. Rinse, repeat.
You want crit threat, initiative, stealth, and xtra actions/bonus actions.

Lol. At least you let him live that long. He dies on the beach when I encounter him the first time. In the past, I would talk to him and then kill him. Any more, I just ambush him and kill him.

But on topic, I prefer the Wood Elf, Half Elf, ( because I want to have a beard ), when I am playing a rogue or any sneaky range style char. They have extra movement and can see in the darkness, which is I consider important for such. But you can successfully use any race, so don't think that means it's the best for you.

Rogues are great at lock picking and disarming traps because of their high Dexterity and built in abilities. So there are several equipment pcs which can help with that. 3 that I can think of in Act 1 alone. Just go on YouTube and do a search by typing in...Best Gear for a Assassin Rogue BG3. You will get a lot of videos to watch and where to find those items.

You should be getting gear which will give you saves and bonuses based on Dexterity. There is one great bow that can be obtained in Act 1 which uses Strength instead as the damage modifier. But that would require using Str Potions which you can buy off of Ethel in the Druid's Grove. I wouldn't build for it however. Focus on Dexterity.

Most important of all....have fun.

Assassin attacks on surprised targets are always crit hit.
So, assuming you're attacking from stealth as often as possible the best return comes from raising your base damage as high as possible.
While deadshot enhances your chance of critting, it is not needed when hitting from stealth...

I aim to, but I was looking for some pointers on equipment.
Almost 1.5 k hours and never truly played a rogue XD

I was thinking to aim for endgame:

Penumbral Armor
Sword of Life Stealing
Assassin Shortsword
Acrobat Shoes

I don't know what would be best for gloves. Considering that at level 11 your stealth attacks add a +6d6 to your damage, poison, in the long run, seems to be useful only against bosses.
Therefore, MAYBE, gloves of the balanced hands may be a better general-purpose item (?).
Cloak of Displacement ofc and shadow of Menzoberranzan to complete the set.
Amulet of Bhaal /Smuggler Ring /Ring of Free Action.

Hellfire Hand Crossbow + Firestoker because the synergy between the 2 is hard to beat.

You're not going to defeat every encounter in one turn, even as an Assassin.

True, but i'm not planning on using normal arrows either.
There are so many better options in melee as an assassin.

For my ninja assassin, I'm partial to the Eastern Weapons Superpack, which adds shuriken, katanas, and wazikashi. There's also some really good other ninja/assassin equipment mods on mod.io.

Let's stick to the vanilla pls. XD
Otherwise I feel we could enumerate an endless amount of weapons.

Killer's sweetheart ring can be pretty op too, allows auto-crit on next attack after a kill

You wanted to know about gloves OP. The ones you can get off goblin boss when they are attacking the Druid Grove early on, are excellent. Can last a long time. Also the ones from the Gith Quartermaster in the Gith Cache are another good pair.

Have to agree with Favonius. The Killer's Sweetheart is a excellent ring.

Serious question: is it worth it? Considering you can only activate it once per long rest?

Gloves of Power you mean? The ones you need to be branded by Gut to benefit from?
