When Auntie ethel turns invisible how do you find her?

I was lucky because i cast the concentration lightening spell before it happened so had a blue line pointing to her but how are you normally supposed to find her?

The cheat way is to test moving to places till you see the line bend around something that's not there.

Once spotted, throw a flask of fire or another AOE.

The spoiler way is to free Volo and then talk to him at camp and go through ice pick surgery, because Volo then gives you a better eye that can see invisible. Keep in mind that he leaves your camp after giving you the eye, so you won't be able to pick pocket him later.

There are several ways to find her. Drench her in water before she splits then the 'real' Ethel will be the only one with the 'wet' condition. Alternately just use a spell like Magic Missle and hit all three projections and the real one will be left.

Maybe read the original post again and give answers relevant to the actual question....

OP: If you don't have any source of see invisibility, any AOE spell that hits her will reveal her. Faerie Fire is probably your best as it actively prevents a target affected by it from going invisible.

Typically find that killing her Apparitions will force her out of invisibility.(Even if not her turn) Otherwise AOE spells cast around the arena will work

The camera follows her when she goes invisible + summon clones. Same when she turns in to mayrina.

That eye is utterly useless. It's actually just a dice roll so most times you cant see her either anyway

I had the same problem when I fought her.

First very very useful trick is that you can identify her by her rag color being red. All her clones has their rag color as blue.

Mid-battle though, she will just turn invisible. Dont panick. Just attack the clones and Ethel will eventually reveal herself again like 1-2 turns later by trying to duplicate as the pregnant lady

Finding her when she turns in to Mayrina is easy. Only the real Mayrina is visibly pregnant. The copies aren't.

The eye allows your character to see invisible things up to 9 meters.

The roll is to dispel the invisibility, allowing everyone to see them if they fail a Dex saving throw.
