I suggest respec'ing out of Tavern brawler so you can experience more regular misses and it will therefore feel like you have less critical misses.
This game is not a challenge if you have proper build/Gear.
That’s just how it is.
For example.
Here's me defeating Tactician cazador before he gets his first turn.

I should stop role-playing and start kicking butt, lol.
This is not how it works.
You need to do hundreds of rolls to get it consistently around 5% and over the course of the game, with thousands of rolls, you should experience all manner of strange anomalies.
That's why for example rogue 11+ is something special; they no longer roll <10 with skill checks.
Roll like you mean it!
This is the only way!
Streaks happen even in "truly" random number samplings. 5% doesn't mean that you'll only miss once every single set of 20 rolls. It means when you zoom out to the big picture, only 1 in 20 rolls on average was a miss. It is well within the realm of possibility for 20 of those misses to have been all back to back. It's also well within the realm of possbilities to go 100+ rolls without seeing a miss come up even once. But when you zoom out to 1000 or more rolls, it's going to average out to 1 in 20.
As has been said many times, the dice don't care what the last roll was. That 5% chance is only for each individual roll. What the last roll came up as doesn't matter, nor does the result affect what the next roll will be.
