I've tried every other combination possible, but I've been keeping him for his fireball. But it seems he's only good for one turn (if that) and then he's dead.
I've done everything I can to level, but there just aren't many places to grind. Or are there? What do you think is the minimum level to survive this slaughter?
For future reference, it is easier to take out Balthazar in his room at the start of the gauntlet. He has undead allies there, too, but not as dangerous.
Stunning or silencing Balthazar pretty much makes him helpless. It's easier to do in his room, IMO. I had Lae'Zel hit him with her soulbreaker sword and he was dead in two turns before he even got unstunned.
gale has grease. Laezel should have boots for walking on grease. martial skills like knockdown work great. Counterspell. you should have approximately 18,000 scrolls and arrows in your backpack at this point, some of which can create icy surfaces or web. If you're bringing wyll you should be able to EB snipe/ knock at least two skeletons into the void. karlach can throw them into the void.
I don't even have the Soulbreaker sword, so yeah... I suppose I've missed a lot. I thought I covered just about everything, but apparently not. Neither of my casters (Shadowheart or Gale) have a silence spell, I suppose I have to look into that, though I also surmise he will just teleport out of it.
Thank you all for being patient with this noob. But I even reduced the difficulty level and still got absolutely smoked. I'll try playing around with my spells to get more cc.
If you are already in the Shadowfell, you can't go back for a lot of the Act 1 and Act 2 content that you apparently missed. And, trying to avoid spoilers, but it's going to be really hard for you to get past the first fight in Act 3.
However, if you can do it, Act 3 has a lot of ways to gain more exp.
But all this means that you have a lot to still experience in a second run.
At which stage of the Act? I meet up with him during the Nightsong encounter, and there is only one entrance....
Honestly, I'm thinking of packing it in with this character and just starting again, since I've apparently missed so much. I guess I need to look for an online guide or something.
Yes, the Shadowsong encounter after the full Gauntlet of Shar.
