Extra Encounters Mod
Every once in a while I come across a mod that I just have to mention as it really changes everything up in the game. Trials of Tav is like that.

But so is the new Extra Encounters mod (at mod.io). I know it's not the first one of its kind, but a lot of previous added encounters mods require SE, so they can't be used on Mac/Linux/console.... this one I can use.

It is glorious. I am rediscovering the thrill of running into unexpected encounters, as the mod maker has added entirely new encounters to many parts of Act 1 and Act 2 (they say they are working on Act 3). And they are tough. Just what I wanted. Minibosses and lots of enemies. He's put in some challenge. Even for a larger party like I usually use.

Spoiler? You WILL run into Ilyn Toth. For example.

Separate from it but by the same author is a mod that increases the # of enemies for the existing encounters. Glorious. Exactly what I wanted since I again usually run with a party of 6. Tactician Enhanced scales their stats based on party size, but not # of enemies. Not yet.

I knew this stuff would come along eventually, and I'm so glad it has.

Ilyn Toth - now that is a name I have not heard for a long while

Out of curiosity, does something like this break the experience progression? You already hit level 12 halfway through act 3, it seems like adding a bunch of extra encounters could result in that happening even sooner.
Still potentially cool, I'm just curious what if anything was done about exp.

Yes, they have a third mod that slows down XP progression, if you want to use it.

I don't - as after all I bust the level cap with ULC and want to make it to 20 - so I'm usually doing the opposite.

I will say this -- after many playthroughs you often know exactly when to rest because you know what you will be facing when. But, like I said, this often throws the unexpected kind of curveball you go through your first playthrough.

Also, impressively, there will sometimes be new NPC allies assisting you against the enemy, often very unexpected ones.
