Won't let me take Blood of Lathander

So I'm at the Blood of Lathander and when I try to take it it just says "The glow around the mace sparkles with beautiful disaster" and nothing happens. I don't have the crest but that never mattered before, in previous playthroughs I could just walk up, take it and trigger the trap.

Am I missing something? Did they change this?

Edit: I'm pretty sure it's just a bug, but it stays even through reloading/leaving. So the creche stays living this playthrough I guess.

You have to have and insert the Crest when prompted. It's always worked for me and I always had the Crest.

There may have been a bug with it before and it got patched. As it should have been.

If that was true then what's the point of the big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ laser on the roof? And all the cutscenes involving that? If you had to always use the crest there would be no way to activate the trap.

Use the Crest and you don't get sapped. You do get a cutscene however when your char takes it.

Are you dense? I don't want to use the crest. I want to trigger the trap, as I have before without issue multiple times.

seems like a super good idea to insult people who genuinly wanna help you dude @ganjagandalf

OP requested a solution to a specific problem, was given objectively incorrect advice, mentioned that advice was objectively incorrect, then the commentor doubled down on their bad advice, instead of just accepting that they didn't have any help to offer. That's obnoxious behavior; should we be surprised OP is annoyed?

there should be a dialog to take the mace anyway and then you have like 4 rounds to blow up 4 little robot things with ranged attacks. Its super easy to do that and the trap is then disabled, you get the mace, and the crest isn't needed at all. Ive done it a dozen times that way, but TBH the damage buff from the crest room is worth having for the cleansing of the creche so these days I do that. The grab and go approach not working is a bug.

Ty. The first guy just didnt even know that the interaction I'm asking about exists and then tells me to do the specific thing I don't wanna do (twice). Could I not have asked if he's dense? Certainly. Did it feel like the right thing to ask? Absolutely.

Yeah I figured it's probably a bug at this point. It does the dialogue right to the point where you can normally go "call on the power of your patron and grab the mace" or something like that and it just throws you out the dialogue. Feels pretty unintended.

I was just wondering if there are any prerequisites for stealing it since I did some weird stuff like skipping the inquisitor. But I dont think any of that should matter. My character was alone there aswell but I tried it again with Astarion there too and same result.

OP wasn't specific in his original post. They never mentioned that they wanted to specifically trigger the trap, only what they had done before. It's well within reason that people would assume getting the Blood of Lathander was the objective here, rather than triggering the trap to do so. But hey, even if there was miscommunication, that can easily be ironed out with common decency. I highly doubt the person replying was doing so in bad faith, they were genuinely trying to help, and being called dense, but they are the one being obnoxious? If a person is prone to being annoyed enough for insults due to their own failed attempt at conveying correct information, then they should maybe try some honest self reflection before asking for help again.
