How do you kill the beholder in the Underdark?
Remebered to ask this. I always went the minotaur route.

At level 5 it´s a complete blood bath The thing is so fast and ranged damage output so low... Barrelmancy is try to setup. And 150 HP, ewww...

How people kill this thing?

Like everything else in BG3, you kill it before it can take a turn.

You don´t say.

But at level 5 how do you do that?

When he unpetrifies the drow hit them once and they will turn neutral and attack the spectator (beholder on roids). And use jump or dash for your melee to get close he seems to only move far every couple of rounds.

It is easier than you might think. It depends strongly on your party, though.
If you share your character sheets people could give you more solid pointers you might be looking for.

At lvl 5 tactician I took Shadowheart (she used mainly guiding bolt) Lazael obviously for her action surge and double actions, and Karlach for high damage output. Karlach is also multi-classed w 2 levels of fighter so she has action surge too

Well the "standard" party "Shadowheart/Asterion/Gale" ship has alreadt sailed. I don´t pretend to play with them again.

Next game I preted to play as multiclass with rogue (kinda need to with no Asterion),Karlach, Halsin and Will.

What should the starting class? Or start as Rogue and then add class?

Just be glad it's not a Beholder.

The first time I encountered that Spectator, I almost wiped. The second time with the same party, I wiped the ground with it.

There is still a random element with streaks of good and bad luck involved. You can only tip things in your favor. Give the forum a run-down of your party like アンジェル mentioned above, and they might be able to give some pointers.

Elixir of Vigilance makes you immune to be surprised and adds +5 initiative. So if everyone drinks one elixir, all 4 go first.

Hit it hard. Hit it often.

Be mobile, because it's going to fly all around. It doesn't just stand in one place and let you bash it.

Multiclassing 2 martial classes at character level 5 is... strange.
Monoclassing you'd get the benefits of action surge, every single turn.

Barbarian berserker with tavern brawler plus all the throwing enhancing gear and haste potion literally solos this thing in round one by throwing spears at it but admittedly this build is very op.

A fighter on haste will also make short work of it with some additional blasting from shadowheart and Gale/Wyll.

Try different things, it is really not as hard as you think it is.

If you use a ranged attack to hit one of the petrified Drow, it will trigger the Spectator's cutscene, but leave you at a safe distance. After that, go into turn-based mode, and rain down ranged attacks on it. It will use it's turns trying to get closer to you, so hopefully you make a big enough dent to finish it off quickly once it gets there.

Might be strange but I took out the Spectator in 3 turns on tacticians first try, so eaches own. :)

Gut him with zero issues.

Usually start the fight by throwing basilisk oil on the first drow on the way which starts the fight but the spectator uses his turn to attack the drow Instead of my party .

Then once it’s our turn he gets gutted easy
