Why do people complain that there is not enough gay NPC in the game?
I just read a Gayming article complaining about this. However BG3 I think is one the most "diverse" game ever:

- Literally every companion of yours is bisexual
- You can even choose "non-binary" as "identity" at the start
- Balduran himself is gay too (if you can call that lizard lover of him male who becomes a dragon later)
- There is no NPC in the game who reject you because you are the same sex

The sexuality of most NPC's is unknown, but that doesn't mean they're all straight. So in theory all of them can be gay lol.

Looks like we'll never find out if that article existed or not.

I'm betting not, since all the articles I found were positive.

The game is pretty clearly labeled M. You're letting children play it and then complaining about how the content isn't suitable for children?

How about YOU raise YOUR kids and leave the rest of us the hell out of it.

Oh, gods. Imagine an LGBT kid having him for a father....

Can you name them and demonstrate that’s they’re ONLY purpose, without resorting to conspiracy theories or inherent bias?

Random gnomes in the underdark, the trans girl in the Shar cloister, the drag queen in the circus are the ones that come to mind.

Okay, so you named some characters.

Now please demonstrate that their only purpose is to "be gay" without resorting to conspiracy theories or inherent bias?

Yes. It says that LGBTQ people exist and deserve to be represented.

The fact that you clearly have a problem with them being in the game at all….speaks volumes

Nobody's against representation. But LGBT are 2%? 5%? of the entire population. Compare it now with the characters in every movie, ad, serie and video game right now...

You said nobody is against representation, while actively quoting my response to someone saying that the fact that there's representation in the game AT ALL is a problem.

Amazing.

If it's not already obvious then nothing I say will convince you.

There are good characters that just happen to be LGBT - Aylin, Isobel, Emperor and technically all of your companions.

Again, if you don't see the difference - then you are the one who is biased.

Pudgus makes a valid point. I noticed that there were many one-liner NPCs, especially in Baldur's Gate proper, that make a point of announcing their sexual identities (the Gondians come to mind, but there were others). The simplest explanation is that the writers wanted it to be known that the gay NPC population is high.

So instead of doing what should be very simple, you've made excuses for not doing it.

You see, I didn't ACCUSE you of being biased. I asked you to demonstrate that they only exist "to be gay" without resorting to bias.

Odd that you confuse the two....

Bait is bait, several posts of the same thing, then to top it off gave a good review on Life is Strange (A leader in the LGBT game sphere). Don't give this user attention.

Game tries too hard at it. Modern day portlandia rpg filled with sapphic romance novellas. Feels like a cheesy gen z show.

I'm happy for those who thrive in it, but I miss my old infinity engine games so I wasn't so entranced.

You say Portlandia like it's a bad thing.

Like most prominent cities in the states it has its good and bad sides to it. That being said i've enjoyed my time there.

Which is fine for them to do, however, it lends credence to the people making a point that this is in fact what was done and their criticisms justified. Now does that change the quality of the game? Not really outside of making the interactions with NPCs kinda cringe because it's ridiculous for anyone to lead with identity. It would be like me walking into any given place and going "Hey I'm Vix I'm black btw and straight oh and just to make sure you know that let me grab my girlfriend right here and fawn over her or make out so that you're absolutely sure of my race and sexuality"...

Why anyone would care about that or feel the need to make that a prominent thing is odd particularly in everyday type settings or, even stranger, settings where no one in their right mind would be thinking about such a thing.

It's just bad writing. It could have easily just been a natural back drop to any given setting with nudges or hints but that doesn't pull the attention toward something as superficial as identity and just kept it moving.

Yeah, that would be cringe. No one would bat an eye at "Hi, I'm Vix, and this is my girlfriend [insertnamehere]" though. Then again, I don't remember any NPC in the game saying even that much as an introduction. Except maybe the tiefling newly-weds?
