BG3 wont launch on MacBook Air M3

As soon as I try to launch BG3, my MacBook Air tries to verify the game. It gets stuck at ca 60%. I have a M3 chip. I've tried to launch the game directly w/o steam but have the same issue. Sometimes it doesn't try to verify the game, but still doesn't launch fully. It just says that the application doesn't reply.
I gave steam and BG3 full access to my hard drive and moved the game to the bin and restored it.
For storage issues the game is stored on an external hard drive, might that be the issue?

External hard drives, especially under non-windows is a recipe for disaster with this game.

Did you find any help? I bought the game back in Feb and never got it to run on my MacbookPro as well. Steam would not give me a refund either.
