Helldusk armor on barbarians?
It says that anyone wearing the armor is proficient in it, so why does it impede raging? Shouldn't barbarians be able to rage normally in an armor that they are proficient in using?

Rage doesn't work in heavy armor, full stop.

What is weird is that I was able to use Bracers of Defense with the Helldusk Armor on my Sorcerer, so it's like...half considered being unarmored as well?

Interesting... I mean that's gotta be a bug, but I'd not have even thought to try that, because of course it wouldn't work, right?

Probably some coding oddities. It might be labeled as 'clothing' in code despite being called heavy armor, which is how anyone is able to wear it.

Based on that, I'd guess that Rage checks for whether or not you're able to apply your Dex bonus since all heavy armor chest pieces prevent your Dex bonus from being added to AC, which is why Helldusk prevents raging.

Just a guess, though. I'm no coder.

Barbarians don't get the class-level benefits from Rage when wearing heavy armor regardless of proficiency, because that's how the class is defined ("While raging, you gain the following benefits if you aren’t wearing heavy armor"...).

That qualifier applies to the Rage benefits granted to all barbarians. It does not automatically apply to any additional Rage benefits granted by a subclass.

You can use rage with that armor and use frenzied strike / enraged throw, but you don't benefit from physical damage red and anything else from rage.

I used the armor a good chunk of the game because of the "bug" or "exploit" you can get it right when you travel to the mountain pass.

You're right. It doesn't keep you from raging, but you don't get most of the baseline benefits from entering it while in heavy armor.

My mistake.
