Best Chestpiece for Healer Build
So, quick breakdown: CLC 6 / WIZ 1 / DRD 5, going Life and Land (for Natural Recovery). Using Wapira's Crown, Whispering Promise, Salving Ring, Boots of Aid and Comfort, Amulet of Restoration and Pearl of Power Amulet (quickswap ftw), Staff of Blessing, Safeguard Shield (up until I can get Walking Fortress).

Don't worry, I'm also building the Radiant Orb build on SHeart, so the Luminous set and Stormy Clamour Boots are in full swing, but I wanted to run a thought experiment given how much faculty they gave healing in BG3 compared to tabletop.

Question then becomes what I should wear in the armor slot. Currently on the hide armor you get from the Owlbear cave, but I'm planning on swapping that out asafp. First thought goes to Wavemother's Robes for the regen in water, or Armor of Agility for the saving throw bonuses, bur Armor of Persistence also looks smexy with the DR, auto Blade Ward and auto Resistance.

There's also the trek through Act II, and I'm torn between Spidersilk Armor and Dwarven Splint, but there's also some good robes along the way, too (Icebite looks charming, while Obsidian Lace is also useful).

So . . . thoughts?

Considering Cleric can wear heavy armor I would go for that. There are a few good options that are really nice for end game.
Helldusk armor (killing Raphael), Adamantine split armor (grymforge), Cerebral Citadel armor (The emperor old armor). Out of all the best is Helldusk, having fly and resistance to fire + 3 less dmg from all sources it's insanely powerful.
Also you can get Armor of Landfall from Lorroakan projection.

My thought is this:

Spell healing in BG3 is pretty much to under-powered to waste an Action on it except in rare and dire emergency. Even then, it is probably not worth it. Potions give much greater healing and can be used at the time needed and cost only a Bonus Action.

In almost all cases DPS/Buff/Debuff > Healing. A dead enemy does not hit back.

Just my experience, so far. YMMV

I always swap out Safeguard Shield with Shield of Devotion (From Tali at Last Light Inn) and run with that until I get Walking Fortress. And I use Adamantine Heavy until can get Helldusk. Just my pref. :) Not saying it is the be all end all, lol.

In general, yeah, that's been the old adage from 5e - just heal out of combat because in-combat healing is just woefully inefficient in tabletop and out-of-combat healing is BUSTED!

Still, 1d4+14, +1d4+1 per spell level, on a BA, that also gives Bless and Blade Ward . . . that's decent enough to at least push to its limits just to see where it lands. Plus, the build doesn't interfere with other faculties as much (Create Water spam for 2x Lightning/Cold damage or for persistent Fire Resist is underrated, and Bless is still a pretty potent option to hold onto when the Radiant Orb Cleric is holding Spirit Guardians).

Granted, throwing potions would still be 4d4+9 plus Bless and Blade Ward plus a d6 onto you that also procs the effects, so valid counterpoint there.

I think every party (especially for newer players) benefits from having a Cleric or Paladin in the mix. The Buffs and Debuffs plus their combat ability (if built for combat) are a real asset. My first run, I used Shadowheart to great affect for lots of stuff, just not healing. This second run, my Tav is a Paladin. Again, Buff/Debuff and loads of killer DPS. :)
