Spoilers: Act 3 strange party reactions to
Steel watch at bridge entrance
When heading to baldurs gate and you get your brain read by the steel watch it says you are an enemy of the absolute. So either you can get under arrest by the enemy. Or you can fight. But if you choose to fight, your whole party disapproves. This makes no sense. Why would they want to deliver themselves to the enemy, under arrest?!?

Did you try the option of being arrested? Or did you try lying to the steel watcher about who you are?

Of course they don't. But almost all of them need to enter the city through whatever means. Angering the highly powerful automaton and possibly dying in the fight will crush those plans, won't it?
There's another option - to find Ironhands at Rivington and agree with their plan. In that case, one of them will hurl a stone at the Watcher, leaving you free to proceed. Of course, if you saved them from the Moonrise previously

Lying is no good. Whatever you say, you shall be mind-probed in the end of the dialogue, no?

You can simply walk around the side near where the gnomes' hideout is and climb up a ladder to get into the city, or you can have a party member shapeshift into a cat and walk right past the guards. Send the shapeshifted cat in on their own, hit the way point, teleport everyone in.

I was pretty straight up. Idno to me it just makes no sense letting yourself and your team get arrested and locked away by the enemy. it's like if when we met thorm and we just told him everything and gave up for no reason. Luckily i got saved thanks to someone else i helped earlier on in the story but still. I was pretty stunned at their reaction to wanting to instead give up to arrest.
