Forced to evolve my tadpole in honor mode

Hi,

I guess maybe I used my tadpole too many times… but in honor mode I was forced to evolve into the half illithid unless I could pass a 35 wisdom check.

Given how honor mode works there’s no possible way to reload.

Two questions:

1.) is there anyway to hide the hideous cosmetic change? I doubt there is besides wearing a helmet but I figured I’d ask. I tried the shapeshifitng helmet but no luck

2.) has anyone been forced to evolve in difficulties below honor difficulty? I feel that I used my tadpole just as much in tactician but still had a choice.

I’m a little disappointed but I’m committed to accepting the consequences of my choices. Not that I have a choice anyway since reloading isn’t oossibke 🤣

I am playing my first run in tactician and I've chosen to go partial ceremorphosis due to advantage. Yes, the cosmetics are a little yucky... What I've done not to look so much like a zombie was to use face paintings (of a dark color, I chose dark green), simple, large, paintings, particularly those that cover the eyes area, not those fancy finely drawn ones, to hide the multiple blue veins showing in ""my"" face. Nothing to do regarding the eye though, BUT... If you opted for taking VOLO's fake ("""all see""") eye, THAT one will not "evolve", thus, good, at least one eye will be good to look at.

1 - not without mods. but using mods would mean no golden dice for you (even if you get the achievement because there's a mod for that)

2 - this is not dependent on the difficulty, it is by design, i.e. use the tadpoles too much and see the DC raising. the honor mode is special because you can't reload saves there (well, without some workarounds)

Yea I am def more into accomplishing it authentically, so my handsome dude will just have to be ugly from here on out. Thanks for your responses ;) I guess I used one too many tadpoles this time Vs last time

I try and engage in as few dialogs as possible and when I do I try and Space bar as fast as possible.

Haha! With all due respect,, if you don’t enjoy the dialogues and relationships is it the combat appeals to you?

No judgments. I just learned from a wide dm that stats and dice are just as important for combat as the dialogue. I bet you accidentally space bar through some funny stuff that you find out later 😂😂

My Honor Mode Tav is a Half Orc Fighter, so the partial illithid transformation is actually an aesthetic improvement.

I didn't really invest in the Illithid powers much, but the ability to fly and the free crit are already ridiculously good.

Yea there are some really goood ones. And even more amazing in the half illithid.

Roleplay wise I just didn’t want to go there. But, as a true role player goes, I’ll roll with the consequences and try to use my new power for good.
