Bugged Quest Items
I currently have 3 bugged quest items. Neres head, the cutscene plays and I get the head but the quest marker still says get the head. Sussar Bark. The quest marker follows me around on the map. The ring of mind-protection wont register that I bought it and the quest marker still says I need to get it from him. Any idea how to fix these? I am currently 7 hours of work past when I could go back to the previous save to "fix it".

This is the infamous Hotfix 16 quest item bug. Seems mod triggered.

There is a very good general workaround that appears to help (besides specific workarounds). Use the very feature HF16 added, and put your quest items in your camp chest instead of inventory, and try to turn in quests then.

The other thing appears to involve updating one mod (PLB legacy) and disabling another (BG3 Mod Fixer). That appears to resolve it as well. SEEMS other mods CONTAINING modfixer like BFE etc. can also cause the issue.

Another fix is starting a new game, but I don't think that's the "best" solution if you're right in the middle of one.

The fix wasnt working so I uninstalled the only mod I was using "basket full of equipment" and now the fix works.

Yeah, and I now know WHY that works. Basket Full of Equipment CONTAINS BG3 Mod Fixer as an embedded mod. But now I'm pretty certain the reason why OTHER mods are possibly creating problems is because they ALSO might contain embedded "modfixer".

So, what would you recommend for someone whose updated plb to latest version and can not uninstall the mod as some ask you to do, cause of another bug that makes a save file that had a mod attacked to it unplayable if the previous mod is not there, also side not using the work around of putting things at camp no go.

do you happen to know if any other mods relating to basket full of equipment can also trigger this bug? like basket full of camp clothes or something? (or do you know if this bug will be fixed at any point?)

is there a way to just remove a hotfix? like play on the second most recent one?

Unknown. Best to ask the mod authors or just other people on their Forums. Although I understand Windows Mod Manager can show you which ones contain "mod fixer".

This is not a BG3 Larian Studios issue and will NOT be fixed by them. If anything, as time goes by and more updates are done to BG3, it will get worse.

Mod authors need to keep their mods up to date with the game. Not the other way around.

Pester the mod authors. They are the ones responsible for modded games not working.

This helped. Put my items in the camp chest - got rid of mod fixer (with the addition of script extender as well) and kept basket full of equipment. Finally, I can continue my game!
