Honestly, the camera control function SHOULD be reversed, so that NOT holding the button continuously is the desired default action. Maybe someone will fix that eventually....
While I am not fully against the WASD mod and camera tweaks to make it nice, I do not like it that much for normal gameplay. It is nice to have now and then to enjoy vistas and take screenshots. But otherwise the normal controls I consider better.
That also includes gamepad controls.
I play ARPGs where I enjoy 3rd person over the shoulder view with WASD but not for group based tactical turn based combat such as found in CRPGs.
For walking around I'm happy with click to move at max zoomed in. Then zooming out during combat. I do think Larian could've taken a page from Dragon Age: Origins in *this one* instance and given more camera options for differently inclined people.
I wouldn't say both are essential, the WASD I could live without, but the camera options are definitely something Larian should have added into the game to enjoy it to it's fullest, visually speaking of course.
Indeed. Despite the game is not designed as a first person game, it offers quite enjoyable vistas. Kinda makes you long for a new Skyrim with that kind of art style.
