Thoughts on WASD+ Camera tweaks?
Hi all,

I just downloaded WASD Movement, and Camera Tweaks, and so far they're both interesting.

However, I will say this, I do like the Camera Movement mod a LOT more than WASD for movement. While it's fun to move around with WASD, it just seems a bit too tedious at times, and I honestly prefer clicking for my character to move myself.

These are just simply my thoughts on these two mods, curious to know what everyone else thinks about these two mods in general.

Still going to give WASD a shot though, but thinking of getting rid of it, because the Camera is more than immersive enough for my liking.

I don't like the idea of WASD movement at all tbh.

I use WASD Movement in concert with Native Camera Tweaks and doubt that I could stomach playing without them again. I also rebound the camera control function to "Mouse X2" instead of the fragile and difficult-to-sustain middle mouse button under the scroll wheel, so forward movement is a simple matter of first pressing Mouse X2 and then the left mouse button adjacent to it.

Honestly, the camera control function SHOULD be reversed, so that NOT holding the button continuously is the desired default action. Maybe someone will fix that eventually....

While I am not fully against the WASD mod and camera tweaks to make it nice, I do not like it that much for normal gameplay. It is nice to have now and then to enjoy vistas and take screenshots. But otherwise the normal controls I consider better.

That also includes gamepad controls.

Both are essential. Both highlight how wrong the dev priorities were since they've missed such fundamental and basic level features. And both highlight those were really low-hanging fruits since single modders implemented it in a matter of weeks - i.e. not adding those features seems to be a deliberate decision.

It didn't really work for me.
I play ARPGs where I enjoy 3rd person over the shoulder view with WASD but not for group based tactical turn based combat such as found in CRPGs.

For walking around I'm happy with click to move at max zoomed in. Then zooming out during combat. I do think Larian could've taken a page from Dragon Age: Origins in *this one* instance and given more camera options for differently inclined people.

I wouldn't say both are essential, the WASD I could live without, but the camera options are definitely something Larian should have added into the game to enjoy it to it's fullest, visually speaking of course.

Indeed. Despite the game is not designed as a first person game, it offers quite enjoyable vistas. Kinda makes you long for a new Skyrim with that kind of art style.

That's my PoV so it's subjective. WASD movement is essential to me because I play on a customized NCT config that places the camera over the shoulder and changes FoV making it near impossible to navigate with point-n-click (and not that I like that input method anyways). I'm just too used to play it as a full presence RPG, not an isometric top-down scroller.
