It's Bard, it's Bard
It's better than bad, it's Bard!

Bard is the best. Plus you can dual wield hand crossbows with 'all in' which is rad.

It is a great pick. A powerhouse surpreme you might not expect from the class name.

I kinda think Bard is possibly the ideal starter class if you have some familiarity with D&D but none with BG3. Jack of all trades, very good as Face of the Party, can be a bit of a skill monkey too.

School of swords bard. No need to thank me.
I'm almost at the end of my Bard Durge playthrough. I just thought it would be fun and I've absolutely loved it. It's not "easy" for some people if they aren't familiar with CRPGs or DnD, but I think it's absolutely worth it and Bard is hilarious is this game. It's worth giving it a try.

I don't think any class is bad.

For beginners bard is hard probably.

From most games id guess its a Supportfocused class.

Also you can get the proficency in Instruments later as well ...as a perk.
But you wont get any spells and buffs from the proficiency.

But you can start playing music for your Mates which will throw a coin for you...so .. thats something

Bard is very good class to pick for a main character
It's charisma based so ideal main character that will do the talking.
Has many fun dialogue options and consequences.
There is no Bard companion in the game, so he will be unique in any party you choose to build.
It's very good caster with control, support and even some damage spells.
Bard is very strong class in DnD 5e in general and in BG3 it is one of the strongest classes.
Can be really good to dip 2 lvls into paladin or warlock if you want more damage options.

2 Paladin / 10 swords bard is a monster. Heavy armor, weapon choises and smites from pally. Spell slots and spell list versatility from Bard. It is almost too good with so many options how to play each encounter. You can buff, tank, heal, control and dps. Not all at once but you can approach each fight with different strategy with just one character.

Learns Confusion, Otto's Irresistible Dance and at one point can choose the following Dialogue: "Let out a huge fart."
Does that answer your question? :D

For beginners, bard is maybe a bit more complex, but it's absolutely a strong class in this game. Which is actually somewhat rare, bards are usually somewhat bad in earlier Baldur's Gate games and many other RPGs. But in BG3, they're strong.

ok you have convinced me, im going to make a gnome bard. looking at the stats, roling is going to be fun with +5 persuation and deception, and battle hard

Honestly each class in the game is good in their own way, I mostly played Monk, Oathbreaker paladin, Fighter and School of swords I think it was called Bard.

Bard is quite interesting because you get some unique dialog which was also quite funny at times. I am yet to do a full bard-only playthrough but yes in my humble opinion bard is totally worth it, also one hint... Play a song next to Volo, you can thank me later.

Otto's kind of make it all worth it.
