Which raises another sore point to be honest. I had to flee from the fight because his first legendary action just fried my tav and Karlach in lava immediately.... so now ... you can't go back at all??? The forge is just eternally just down there with the guardian... inaccessible (you could featherfall I know but you'd be in an infinitely worse position to start the fight.)
Are people really having to cheese this fight? Its kind of a gimme tbh - since the hammer does the work for you.
