Cazador's Palace locked door bug (Spoilers)
Ill keep it short and sweet: act III in cazadors palace there is the magically locked door that you need the ring and to read the book in the palace to open it. ive read the book, have the ring in my inventory, but am given no option to use the ring on the door. from reading other discussions this is a bug in one of the recent patches so i put the game down till a hot fix came out to fix it. A hot fix came out yesterday apparently fixing it according to the patch notes. started the game and still doesn't work. any other way to get around this door? did i read the patch notes wrong? help?

There seems to be an issue with Mods and Patch #16 in that quest items are not recognized as being in the Traveler's Chest or even on the character.

Depends on the Mod and how deeply it has changed files. Step one is to try with it simply disabled. Once through the door(s), can re-enable if you like. Until next time. :)

Hiii!
:xboson:PROBLEM SOLVED.:xboson:
I spoke to support and they recommended doing the following:
....
If you are currently using mods or have used them previously, they may be what is causing this issue. It’s best to double check that all mod files are completely removed. To do so, check the 'Mods' and 'Public' folders in the '..\SteamApps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data' folder, etc; and if present, both folders are safe to delete. If applicable, you can also delete the modsettings.lsx file in the profile folder.

You are also going to need to check the local AppData folder for the current user account: '..\SteamApps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data' as any old mod files may have been copied over to there. To do this, copy the following line into the location bar in Explorer and hit Enter: %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods
Delete any files you find there.
....
I removed the mods from the game, reloaded the game and sure enough, the ring worked. :Redfall_Heart:

Did you have to remove all the installed mods?

Hi, just curious, which mod did you have installed? Having the same issue, but I have several mods and Im hesitant to remove all at once bc it may break my save.

Focus on BG3 Mod Fixer. Possibly ones that contain it. Make sure to update PLB Legacy to 1.7.4 if you have it,

Some folks are saying Hotfix 17 cured the problems of 16, but I'm unsure about this, only seen one post so far to that effect, I think.

Okay, for anyone else having this problem who finds this thread, I found an alternative fix if you're like me and have too many mods installed to just disabled/uninstall them and have the save still be usable.

I DL'd Norbyte's Script Extender mod on Nexus (there is also a github version, but I could not seem to get that one to work? Maybe I'm dumb lol) AND repaired my game files after installing. This has fixed the issue with quest items not being recognized in my inventory, at least as of Patch 17.

I'd venture to try repairing your game first to see if that fixes the issue, but based on some of the discussion threads I was seeing on Nexus, that alone did not permanently solve the problem. Only having the Script Extender and repairing the files has given me the consistent fix.
:p

EDIT: HOTFIX 17, my bad. There was also a patch this morning, maybe that also fixed it (doubt it) but nevertheless xD

for those having issues with the game yes mods can be a massive issue you don't need to take off all your mods you need a script extender if you do not have one already. i had the issue where i couldn't get into the door and i downloaded this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/2172?tab=videos on the nexus and it fixed everything now my ♥♥♥♥ is working again. I'm not sure for those that don't have mods but who knows maybe this will fix your game too? i would say try just in case unless the devs put out a fix.
