All mono fighter class soloing .
I have soloed every honor mode boss with a pure fighter
- healing
- aoe damage
- attacks per round
- good AC
- buffs
- talking skills
- distractions (grouping enemy before attacking them with aoes, or stealing stuff)
are all present.
- multiclass options (pairs with sorc, warlock, paladin, all excellent utility added though sorcerer is tricky to split without being weak endgame).
About the only thing missing is a big hit point pool.
Bard also gets expertise and way more skills than the others, so it's the better choice because you can easily grab both insight and investigation -- and possibly history/religion/nature. Bard's a full caster, so it's weird to say they're weak.
So the obvious way to abuse it is to take 2 Fighter levels for Action surge, which gives you an absurd burst potential once your reach Bard 6, by allowing you to spend your 4 inspiration die and action surge in one turn in order to deal 8 attacks, without taking into account additional attack from Haste and other buffs. And the best thing is that you recover your full burst potential by doing a short rest, which you can do 3 times per day.
The fact that BG3 allows you to swap freely between melee and ranged means that you can switch to a finesse weapon + shield setup once you have finished attacking. This combined with defensive flourish and the broken medium armors allowing you to add your full Dex modifier to your AC can allow you to reach some absurd AC levels (30+), making you quite tanky on top of being an excellent DPS character.
Bard 6 / Fighter 2 is the core of this combi, and you can add whatever you want from there, be it more Bard levels for more of everything, 4 Rogue Thief levels in order to have a second bonus actions and mess around with dual crossbows, and so on.
Very impressive. What are the primary variables for success?
