whats the point from bard?
doing my third playthrough as karlach wanted try play as bard on her wanna do good run doing good deeds cuz thats what karlach would do and you got alot of unique dialogs for bard but is that the only reason to play bard? for dialog choices? becuz when it comes to everything else they are just kinda garbage i know they are jack of all trades thats why i dont excel at anything i am dual wield but also shooting bows and using some dmg spells and buffs basically i do everything decent but it feels insanely underwhelming that im thinking to just change my class to something actually useful

Bards in BG3 (but not tabetop) also give you an additional short rest, which is great to include in your party if you are a monk or warlock or otherwise get resources back on short-rest.

any class can so they arent anything special

I don't believe this for pure classes. I might believe it for multi-class.

I like my MC fighter, but there is no way he could solo all boss fights.
Yes they can I have done it:

Bards are pretty strong. I mean the key tools in the game...
- healing
- aoe damage
- attacks per round
- good AC
- buffs
- talking skills
- distractions (grouping enemy before attacking them with aoes, or stealing stuff)
are all present.
- multiclass options (pairs with sorc, warlock, paladin, all excellent utility added though sorcerer is tricky to split without being weak endgame).

About the only thing missing is a big hit point pool.

For the main character who does all the talking stuff and you want to get the most out of the talking stuff... you want either Bard, Warlock, Paladin, or Sorcerer because their main stat is Charisma.

Bard also gets expertise and way more skills than the others, so it's the better choice because you can easily grab both insight and investigation -- and possibly history/religion/nature. Bard's a full caster, so it's weird to say they're weak.

The Bard is a pretty solid overall class, however there's one thing in their kit that is way too strong. It's ranged slashing flourish of the Swords bard. As opposed to the melee version, it allows you to target an enemy twice per attack by spending an inspiration dice.

So the obvious way to abuse it is to take 2 Fighter levels for Action surge, which gives you an absurd burst potential once your reach Bard 6, by allowing you to spend your 4 inspiration die and action surge in one turn in order to deal 8 attacks, without taking into account additional attack from Haste and other buffs. And the best thing is that you recover your full burst potential by doing a short rest, which you can do 3 times per day.

The fact that BG3 allows you to swap freely between melee and ranged means that you can switch to a finesse weapon + shield setup once you have finished attacking. This combined with defensive flourish and the broken medium armors allowing you to add your full Dex modifier to your AC can allow you to reach some absurd AC levels (30+), making you quite tanky on top of being an excellent DPS character.

Bard 6 / Fighter 2 is the core of this combi, and you can add whatever you want from there, be it more Bard levels for more of everything, 4 Rogue Thief levels in order to have a second bonus actions and mess around with dual crossbows, and so on.

I love bard! They're the best party leader hands down, especially lore bard. They have a ton of skills and skill expertise. Lore bards can cherry pick spells not native them. They can play instruments and perform for money. They even have feats that specifically fit their flavor.

Very impressive. What are the primary variables for success?
