Can I get the spell from the Necromancy of Thay book when I let Astarion read it?

The approval boost seems nice but since I'm playing a necromancer the spell will come in pretty handy later for the build I that needs it.
Does anyone know if you'll be locked out of getting the spell if you give it to him?

Nope. Even if he's not Arcane Trickster and with no spellcasting ability, he can learn THAT spell. How worthwhile the spell is in current state -- different subject. It's actually technically NOT a spell though described as such, really an ability, doesn't use spell slots, and recharges on rests IIRC.

But only one person, him or you, can get the ability once you meet all the conditions in Act 3. It's not like a spell that can be learned.

Alright then. Seems that I keep the book for me then and send him to camp before opening it to avoid the disapproval.
