But i cant see the vents and if i get close i activate the explosion.
Trap guy is kind of me or astarion but hes at camp
The vents can be blocked. Put something big and heavy on top of them, not a dagger or a feather, it will block the gas coming out of them. Yeah, the masks work, and BTW though it might seem useful to wear them, don't. But they block the vents nicely.
I used to trigger the gas traps myself all the time, did the only yutzy thing I could think of, which was to dash and jump and whatever else I could to get through them as fast as possible; and what I found funny, I always joke about the game's daft AI and pathfinding, but it's true, after rescuing Mayrina, she would walk back up through the poison gas clouds and die, acting as if she didn't know it was there.
Fortunately, I found out ... spoiler? ... a certain optional sidequest involving hags in Act 3 DOESN'T require her to be alive.
If i remember correctly there is also somewhere nearby a table with masks. And just backtrack a bit, then you can go to camp and bring Asterion with you.
There are some masks on a table up above, on the other side of the door. You can also use ropes, clothing, pretty much anything. When you do the motion to throw, you can kind of move the items around and the vents will show up when you mouse over them.
Have all your party members cast that on themselves. Put the Masks from the table on everyone and you can just hop, skip, and have a gay Ol' merry time walking past the traps.
I would advise fighting the masked people though. Ethel summons them in her fight. You can knock them out, leave them. Once Ethel is dead you can go back to them to remove the masks to save them. Long Rest. Come back, and they are up and walking around with one of them you'll see again in Act 3.
I actually saw that at the Wiki, but also the warning you should know: if you put on the Mask and you don't have that spell active, you need to make a WIS saving throw every turn or Ethel possesses you and takes control of you. And if four party members all put on the Masks, without that protection ... you get the Game Over screen.
(it's all laid out here)

There is a ton of the scroll in Act 1. I rarely have less than 4 to 6 by the time I am level 4 and going to deal with Ethel. I just hit the Blighted Village and I already have 3 of them without buying or stealing any from merchants at the Grove.
The point of putting a Mask on all four people is that it saves a TON of time and keeps you from taking any damage along the way. Because of how janky pathing is, it isn't uncommon for one party member to be a step or two behind, triggering the traps and taking damage. If all four have a mask on, this isn't a problem. In the department of time saving, you're not bothering to disarm every single trap on the way to Ethel.
Four scrolls, time saved, damage not taken.
You can jump allllll the way down past the poison
This is the way. Just don't land on any flowers, and 3 jumps gets you past all of it without touching the gas. Even shovel can do it, its not one of those need 20 str to jump it tests. Going back the other way might take that, though :)
you can also just run through it and top off at the bottom. Its not that hard hitting. Throw potions to heal all 4 of you at once if you used your spells.
You have to get everyone close together. Close to the point they cannot move any closer. When you throw the potion at your feet, the indicator will highlight allies who will all be within the area of effect once throw (excluding yourself, but if you get it right in the middle of the three of your companions and the other two show as tagged, you should be fine).
If need be, I can record a video to show what I mean.
EDIT: Noticed I was low on health and did the video anyways. Its still uploading as of this edit.
