Gale's Box To Feed Him.
When I go to feed Gale a magic item from the boxes that come up I noticed not all of my magic items are present and some of the items that do not have the text "Gale can eat this item." are among the magical items that I can choose from.

I am playing with mods, and am wondering if anyone else is having an issue, with or without mods?

Only certain magical items can be consumed by Gale. It's intended. Think of him a Picky Eater.

I have not seen any items in the offer box that are not marked as available. Will keep an eye out for them next time he is 'hungry'. :)
just don't worry about the gale stuff at all. you only have to feed him 3 items in total ever, it isn't actually like a whole thing.

In EA there was like 6 magic items in act 1 that you could feed him lol. Buuuut now act 1 is littered with completely useless magic items so that whole thing might as well not exist.

Exactly. It used to be a hardship, but now it's not a big deal at all. There are so many build-specific items that there are certain to be a few you won't use at all - bard items, paladin items, etc. that are only good if your PC is that class. Give him those and keep all the other stuff. I always end up with more magic items than I can possibly use.

But to OP's question, not all magic items are sufficiently powerful for Gale to use. Some just don't have enough Weave to help his problem. That's by design.

I strongly believe that either they or WotC decided late on get rid of basically everything with downsides. Probably WotC. They want BG3 to get a bunch of new people interested in TTRPG and then sell them on VTT and tabletop products - the more of a pure and casual power fantasy BG3 is the better for that. No illithid consquences, rep/approval/barter is basically nonexistant, you can do both underdark/mountain pass when it seems like they intended to force you into a choice causing you to be extremely overleveled from that point on , exhaustion system was cut from the game but party members still have the dialogues from it, bargain with raphael sidetrack removed which presumably had its own downsides compared to illithid downsides, they removed DURGE from Tav when originally you would be dark urge no matter what if you were a custom (that's why Tav still has balduran dialogues no matter what your background or race is). WotC wanting the player to feel like they powered up and weren't punished no matter what they did falls right in line with their approach to everything.

I disagree. If WotC cared about any of this you would see a better DnD system than 5e.

WotC is making the next edition of D&D even worse than 5e is, you're imagining a WotC that hasn't existed for decades.

Thank you everyone for the replies.

Galiana Kruger - I don't mind feeding him. I was just wondering why not all of the ones he could eat were not popping up.

Ironwu - I went back to the list and I have to correct myself; All of the items that were listed have his text.

BeautifulFlowerField-That's good to know. I didn't mind feeding him, but I could see why it might be an issue; They popped up pretty quickly.

Hex and Swbrandt -Thank you, I stopped fussing over it and just gave him whatever. When Gale said there is a boat of magical treasure across Faerun. I doubted, I lost.

And Metallicus - I am not leaving you out of this, either.

Hope you all have a great what time of day it is for you.
