Moonstone lootable? (Dont read if you havent reached underdark yet)

You have to destroy the moonstone in order to get past the big gate so the statues dont "banish you into the shadow realm" or as some call it "burn you alive". In my first playthrough i was alredy wondering wether or not is there a way to loot the moonstone rather destroying it? And if so does it have any use?

It's too high to interact with and any attempt to dislodge it I've found also destroys it. It's odd, because one time I was walking by it and Astarion dropped the comment of the "Crystal seems powerful, we should take it", and got reprimanded by Gale because they "Don't know what it does, or what it's capable of". Something along those lines anyway.

I figure it's something from EA that got cut. Perhaps that's where you originally got the tip for the craftable staff you can make in the Underdark. Looks visually similar, at least.

Oh yeah that staff is also one of those unfinished things i have in my camp chest XD probably missed the third part, i have the ice arrow and the other thing but not the staff itself.

Astarions line really made me want to have it yes, but your assumption sounds plausible, it could really be cut content.

I managed to in EA by building a tower of crates to climb on, dunno if it works for release. Was only worth like 10 gold.

All three parts for the staff are in the underdark. If memory serves, one piece is gotten from the mad elf near the sussar tree, another from a body in Spaw's "Vault", and the third from one of the petrified drow in the spectator fight. The staff is frankly amazing for how early you get it, my go-to weapon for Gale pretty much the whole game.

strange, i know all of these 3 encounters but i probably still missed something then. Or i accidently did sell one thing. maybe on the vault i missed a body because it was rather dark there.. Thanks for the info though :D

Doesnt sound very rewarding, yet again you can send so many crates to your camp, i can just try it that way in my next run and keep the moonstone as trophy smart idea

for anyone else interested, I did the stackable tower up (there is more than enough in the shrine), but you cannot, no option to pick up, only examine and attack, no things I could think off like throwing it etc worked

I have also created a tower of crates and there is no selection to pick up also tried Mage Hand.

The only thing you can do with the Moonstone, apart from destroying it, is place the Sussur Flower near it or on top of it, which will turn off its power

you can also just leave it alone. the statues won't see you in stealth.
