Why is the environment still in realtime when I'm in turn-based?
So I'm in the Goblin Base in Act 1. I spoke with the giant spiders and convinced them to attack the Goblins. I then went into turn-based mode to join the fight, but they fight in realtime regardless. This is a bug, yes?

should be, however even in turn based mode every time you end all your turn the "world" gets to go so that might be what's happening too. Not sure, haven't seen this particular thing happen before.

Once you're in combat, everything happening outside of combat moves at a different pace. The whole world doesn't match the pace of combat. It's a concession the game had to make for the sake of rounds not lasting forever lol.

So when you go into turn-based, combat is still unfolding automatically without you in it. The only way to fix that is to get at least one party member into combat so it'll hold on their turn and give you time to do your planning and maneuvering outside of combat. Just running someone up close to the fighting will do.

In short, the turns in combat and in the world are tracked separately.

But anything that is NOT in combat DOES act in turn based mode, should you choose to enter it. So it's only combat (that you aren't engaged in) that continues in real time around you. I don't understand your explanation about "turns lasting forever", could you clarify?

Those spiders seem to be tied to a script that makes them act out their attack animations regardless of what you do purely to make it seem theatrical. Some devs use it rarely, in this case, which is good. Some use it like they're hardcore play writers which is bad, especially if you want the game to seem more dynamic each playthrough.
