I got EXTREMELY lucky... I hope
All spoilers btw but most people here will have likely beaten the game already.
I'm in the gauntlet of Shar, and was wondering if it matters weather or not I actually use Shadowheart as the controlled character. So I do some googling, and discover that IF YOU DO THE TRIALS AND GET THE NIGHTSONG FIRST, YOU CAN'T SAVE THE DAMN TEIFLINGS??? Thank god I saw that, makes no logical sense to me. What is the reason? I understand that I'm asking for a spoiler but if someone could maybe put it on some vague context, like, I guess I'm asking; is there an actual reason or is it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥??

Oh and the "I hope" part. Basically, is it too late already? I'm quite deep into the gauntlet now, and I've killed Yuregir (just barely), but not actually completed a single actual trial. Is there any way for me to tell that I've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up already? I do NOT want to fight HIM again...

You can do the trials, you just shouldn't go to the last location (which you can access after getting all the stones from trials).

The game has weird time-gating that's not obvious - and this one isn't the worst case because it will actually ask you "stuff will happen if you proceed, are you sure"

You even get a waypoint at the shadowfell entrance so you can quickly return when finishing missing stuff.

When you go to the Nightsong you get a warning that quests will close do you not?
I found that one out the hard way.. I'm not exactly sure why? But you need to do the moonrise stuff as much as you can before you leave to go through the gauntlet. Now that i've learned, i always go to moonrise first after leaving last light - get the quest to go do the other stuff and do the prison, then go do everything else i want to do - Halsin and Arabella mostly - and THEN go to the gauntlet to do that and the raphael thing.

If i had to make a guess, maybe they kill the prisoners when they find out about nightsong because it made ketheric vulnerable and they were removing everything that was even almost a possible threat? or it was just a petty thing to get back at whatever "good" person got nightsong? theyre jerks. lol

Oh that's fantastic, I was glad when ending act one I got a notification for that too. That's good to know I can at least do everything else here with that knowledge. My whole entire thought pattern was "Well, I better be prepared to go to moonrise, better ensure this Kethric guy isn't *literally invincible* when I face him. I have a ton of back up saves so I would have reloaded but I wouldn't have been happy. Especially if it meant fighting that PRICK DEVIL again, but luckily as you say, it won't.

Huh. I was right on the verge of entering that area when Lae'zel complained that I hadn't visited the Gith creche yet. So I headed there instead. I had been planning on returning that way once I was done at the creche but I guess I'll be heading to the towers first instead.

Well I'm just glad its not too late for me already. I can see why they put such a bloody hard encounter down here if it was only meant to be the last part of the act as it were. Trying to kill Yuregir after failing an insight check I didn't know existed was utterly impossible. Only found out about that after googling. I don't care if its save scumming I 100% could not possibly have survived that while fighting all the minions + his coeurl rip off pet.

Heh, displacer cats came first, an ancient staple of DnD.

You just have to clear his bombs, you can throw them away from your. AOE is great for his minions. My first playthrough I didn't know about talking to him, I focused the kitty first while using AOE on the other mobs.

The reason is that the world moves without your actions, granted not by much but you are running on time.

The Goblin attack is quite emphasized to be close.

Haha I figured, fair enough.

Yeah my party just isn't built for major combat like that. First attempt he actually managed to use his push back ability to insta kill my main and at that point it was like... time to give up. Even fighting him alone after having him kill his minions, was still a real challenge (failed the suicide check lol).
Got to the Shadowfell entrance and saw the warning. Wow. Yeah I would not have missed that. Its BLATENTLY clear. Not sure what people were complaining about. Only reason I made the post is I wasn't sure what was going on. I had no idea the pop up would be this obvious. Literally states "SOME ACTIVE QUESTS MAY BECOME UNAVAILABLE".

I think it's unclear. It says something vague, like "events may progress". Which events? How am I to know before I get the information that comes AFTER the ambiguous warning? I considered it might be the end of the act, but to me, un-immortaling Ketheric seemed like an obvious priority ahead of confronting him. In fact everything suggests that ending Ketheric/the shadow curse is the ultimate goal of the act. I've been explicitly told Ketheric is unkillable, and this relic is what will correct that.
