I went back to mountain pass to pick a book I left on the ground.
Well it appears I have 2 Infernal Iron and 1 Infernal Alloy I bought in the grymforge.
Overall, Dammon only requires 4 Infernal Irons to patch up Karlach + 2 Inferior quality of Infernal Armament in ACT 1 + ACT 2, he serves absolutely no purpose in ACT 3 beside being a trader
Ugh, only 3? Damn, that means the rest is useless.
You can go back to Act 1 if you are in Act 2 before you encounter the NightSong. Once you encounter the NightSong you cannot go back to Act 1 or the Creche/Rosymorn Monastery.
However! If you are in Act 2 and you go back to the Act 1 areas / creche/Rosymorn Monastery before having Halsin join as a full actual member of your group, as in you have full access to his character sheet, armor/items, levels, etc... he can never become a permanent part of your group. If you want to go back to Act 1 areas or creche/Rosymorn Monastery, you need for Halsin to be a permanent member of your party first, then you can go back and while he will leave you while you are in the Act 1 areas, he will come back to your party once you come back to the shadow-cursed land.
I went to complete the crèche area after reaching the last light inn and had no problems with Halsin joining the party later.
Fairly sure I triggered his quest progress within the inn but definitely didn't go as far as waking the guy up.
