Vampires are evil

You try not to judge. Your motto is live and let live. So what one of your companions drinks the blood of other living beings? Who cares if they've murdered innocents for hundreds of years? Everyone is capable of redemption you say to yourself. Then you talk to families effected by your blood sucking friend's evil actions.

Pretty much impossible to meet a good Vampire. If they are good, most likely they're only half. Hope this isn't considered a spoiler, but hearing from Asterion's victims in Act 3 was one of the most heart wrenching stories I've wtinessed. It made me try to understand who he really is, as a person.

I reflected and from what I recall, he is solely interested in himself. He doesn't seem to have anyone else's best interest at heart. I don't recall if his beginnings had anything that redeems him.

I know he was someone's thrall at the time. I know that this overlord Vampire, who controlled him was the real hand behind Asterion's choices and actions, but Asterion could at least be accountable for his part.

If you listen to his dialogue later, you might hear some seemingly out of character comments ad observations.

Or you could off him yourself to hold him accountable. But by late game the player character pretty much has killed off enough folk to.populate a decent sized village, so ultimately its simply a matter of perspective and scale.

Yes, I gave Astorian a chance to not be a ♥♥♥♥, but then I started looking for chances to kill him.

They must be lying. I know because Astarion only ever ate animals. He told me so.

What he's done before doesn't count as much as what he's doing now. You can held accountable from you can see and hear, anything else can be lies or exagerations.

At act 3 you can correlate what he told you with the situation at hand, he's not evil, he's an opportunist who's looking for a way out and you can change his mind too.

Turn him over to the vamp hunter who I wish was a companion. They put this absolute sigma vampire hunter in a game and then are like "No he isnt a companion. You can have white haired Edward Cullen though" They couldnt even make Astarion cool they went with "oh im a vamp with a sad story waahhh" Like at least make the vamp character cool. If he was even as cool as your typical fodder vamp from Buffy that would be a drastic improvement.

Buffy was for teens though, this character is a little more grounded .

That's why he compensate with the sarcastic persona.

In that show vamps were tough and the only ones that whined were Harmony and Angel. The former of which was done on purpose because she was SUPPOSED to be annoying. the rest were awesome. Astarion is just whiny "oh woe is me im a monster waah" he comes off like a Twilight character instead of a real vampire. Even Reeves as a human in Dracula was way less whiny and more cool than Astarion.

That's what i mean it's for teens. They were "cooool", as a teen i loved it but ,from my understanding, vampires in this setting are more " normal". It's juste bloodthirsty nobles with adoring servants and spawn slaves to do their biddings. We're with one of these spawns, this guy lived a miserable existencefor 200 years.

Unless you can see the cracks in someone, they seem fake , to me at least.

Ok Bram Stoker then, where are all the whiny vamps in his work? Its weird how you keep acting like Twilight crybaby vamps are somehow realistic or grounded when they are beyond silly. "oh im immortal and dont age and get all these powers. oh so sad" When the one downside is something that is easily fixed which is the sunlight thing then its literally just boons. Crying about boons is not grounded or realistic. its twilight sillyness. I prefer realism over Twilight.
