its cheap anyway, keep trying till you are satisfied
i would argue two melee heavy hitters are a little bit redundant but it could still work
Karlach can get speak with animals through Wildheart. I don't remember ever needing to persuade an animal to do anything, so she can cover pretty much all of that.
If you really want speak with animals yourself though, probably go with Warlock and take the Beast Speech Inovcation or Bard.
I didn't respec Shadowheart because she does fine on tactical anyways and I prefer to keep her lore-appropriate. Unfortunately there was stupidly only ONE enemy that had high AC, but for that one dude invoke duplicity was clutch.
You should respect your companions....hehehe
Karlach and Laezel are good martials, and Shadowheart is an excellent support if you get her out of that icky trickery domain.
Would probably want to do a charisma caster like Bard, Warlock, or Sorc for spell slinging and smooth talking.
Edit: Something you could do is Sorcerer, and take an immediate 1 level dip at level 2 into Nature domain cleric for speak with animals and heavy armor proficiency before continuing as sorc for the rest of your levels. You get an amulet that gives speak with dead super early on too, so that isn't an issue.
But since you have 2 martials and a cleric, your character should be some arcane caster.
I'd go bard or Sorc, for talking and buffs.
Sorc can twin haste on the 2 frontliners and that is almost auto-win even on tactician.
