[8 Strength] Elixir of Hill Giant Strength for whole playthrough
Hello,

I'm thiking about creating a warrior with 8 strength.
He'd still be at 21 strength during all combats, thanks to the Elixir of Hill Giant Strength :
https://baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com/Elixir+of+Hill+Giant+Strength

From your experience, is such a build viable?
Will I be able to find / buy / craft these potions during my whole playthrough, or will I have 8 strength most of the combats?

Note : I won't be able to use the gauntlets nor the weapon which raise strength, with this specific build.

Thanks for your help :)

Pretty sure you can craft and buy them, auntie ethel sells 3 the first time you visit the grove and you can steal another 2 from nearby. Thats enough for 5 long rests.

Later on you can also get lumps circlet to set your int to 17 as well.

I dont believe you get the mats for this early or if you do they are pretty rare. dex isn't an issue due to a certain item so going max strength is the play imo.

Thanks for your answers.
My char will be unarmed, so will use the gauntlet slots for unarmed bonus damage.
The potion seems the only way for me to boost strength.

There's also cloud giant elixirs later in the game. I like your idea, yeah it's viable, tough but viable. You can craft all the strength elixirs just finding mats is sometimes tough. Search every container and body I've found cloud giant fingers on a dead mind flayer.

Yes its viable

Auntie Ethel sell 3 and she restock every time you long rest and/or level up. So can easily stack up on elixir there. Just be careful to not go to the Wet Land too fast...

After that, you can craft and buy Hill Giant elixir relatively easily.

Yes, but you wont be able to excessively long rest.

to the end of having more potions and elixirs transmutation wizard at level 2 gets the ability to pass a medicine 15 check and get double the potions from a crafting action.

Make a character you don't take with you and just make them to have the highest medicine check you can and just get double all the crafted alchemy items and you're good for most of the game.

You won't be able to use Elixir of Bloodlust on your warrior if you go down this route which means that in most larger fights you're missing on 1 extra action point per turn.

What are you planning to have as the full statline? Why gimp the main stat unless you're planning some multiclass?

You can build an unbelievable ninja with what the OP is requesting information on.

Use STR as your dump stat. Max your DEX and CON - put your +2 into CON, so it goes to 17 and put your DEX to 16.

Put the rest into something like WIS or CHA (to help with monk spells, or aid dialogue etc etc)- just until level 4 / 5, when you will probably re-spec.

At level 4 get Tavern Brawler - bearing in mind, you will have the Elixir of HGS. You already hit like a truck (especially with flurry of blows), now with TB, you hit like a truck hauling a full load of tree trunks.

At level 5, either get your extra attack or multi-class.

I re-specced Karlach with this and got a Githyanki and Half-Ogre hireling to tag along with her and myself, one of which is an open hand monk and the other a shadow monk, just as a bunch of ninjas

They regain ALL their special attacks on short rest. Honestly - much much more fun than I thought possible and they just annihilate. Imagine all those cheesy movies, of ninja's popping out of nowhere (misty step from cast darkness) and tearing through enemies.

Who needs Elixir of Bloodlust - the fights don't last that long to even drink one, never mind apply it :)
100% viable, if you just use auntie ethel as a vendor a few times before sending her to her home and confronting her, she will restock 3 hill giant elixers and 1 of the item to craft them every level up/long rest (whichever resets her inventory, i still have not figured out if it's one or both) I had over 10 before chapter 2 and had been using them on 2 characters every long rest

yes it fine if you are not going for super str build with all the stats items...

i stole and made like 20+ of those potions before act 2 and i wasn't even rest cheezing...
